Fruiting Conditions

Have a question regarding how to begin fruiting conditions. My shoebox is almost 100% colonized and was going to put it into fruiting conditions. I got a timer for my light to run 12 hours on and 12 hours on. Since I have not done this before I was wondering if I need to initially mist it or mist it when it appears to be drying out? Thanks for all the Shroomery help!

Mist when you decide to fruit and continue misting until you harvest. The purpose of misting is to trigger pinning. You just need water evaporation from the surface of your tub. Don't mist heavily as this can cause over saturation and led to contamination. A light misting is plenty. It should just look like little beads of water Resting on the surface of your substrate. I mist mine 1-2 times a day.

Once you get the sub prep down you won’t need to mist at all normally until the second flush.
How have you been running it? Cased? Top layer? Neither?
I used to flip the lid and the surface would dry out bad so I needed to mist, but I have very low humidity in my house.
Now I just keep one end unlatched and it gets plenty of air and I normally won’t have to mist it until a few days after the first flush and dunk.

Id lightly mist the top and sides unless there's water on top of your sub

Thanks everyone. I just mixed the spawn with black kow and covered the mixture with a thin layer of more black kow just so all the spawn was covered. The box has been colonizing since 12/15 and sitting with both latches closed but opened daily to check on the rate of growth. I have not added any water to the sub at any point.
Hmmm, it appears I have 2 votes for misting and 1 vote for not misting. I think I will just do one mist and get the 12/12 light cycle going.

I like to not open mine ever until atleast 10 days then i peek once. If it's not 100% i shut it up for another few days to a week depending on how far along it is. Best of luck! Hope to see some great results!

Diego are you reading old threads or started growing a while back??
When I started I followed a tek that was adamant not to look at the sub for ten days while it colonized or it’ll get contaminated, which once I came here found out was basically impossible.

I started a while back. Its not a contamination issue. My labs clean. it's being exposed to fruiting conditions prematurely

I've had some problems with this recently, misting before the first flush too much which created contamination/infection and no fruit...do you think i should mist the walls of the tub before the first flush? or just leave it be?

Leave it be, patience.......,and there’s never a reason to mist the walls. Mist the surface only when it’s dry, like visibly drying out not still moist.
