Indirect artificial light or direct?
    #26408850 - 12/31/19 07:03 AM (4 years, 29 days ago)

Hello! I'm currently using a cubensis growkit which started pinning about 3-4 days ago. Since I read that you should only let your grow get indirect sunlight, I figured it would be the same with artificial light so I don't have it directly lighting at the mushrooms, only the reflection. But the more I read the more I realise that light does indicate a bigger roll than just helping with which direction the pins grow. Should I hang the lamp above the growkit instead for maximum potential? Or should I just stick with my previous setup? The lighting I use is a 2700k-3000k led bulb at 1050lm. I know that 6500k is what you really want, which was actually the one I ordered. Didn't realise until today when i read the description of the bulb that they seem to have sent me the wrong one. So I've been using the wrong light for around 12 days now :/. Some pictures below

Hey there, someone on here told me mycelium only needs the light to know what way is up and apart from that it has no other uses.
Kind of makes sense ha

Could be wrong, worth some research

I find light to be more important than suggested. I like to have the light above the tubs so the fruits don't reach for it and if it's not strong enough the fruits look like shit.

The 9$ 2 foot led ones work great. Got em at Wally world.

More recently I've heard that shrooms need light more like we do.  Sure you can survive in the dark, but you are much healthier getting plenty of sun.

I do the same. Straight fruits look way better. Led strips are definitely the way to go also

Direct light. Artificial light is very weak compared to the sun. 6500K is optimal but 5000 is fine.

Yeah I figured that might be the case. Will try to get a 6500k lightbulb which I will hang directly over the growbox. But will probably not get one until my first flush so will have to settle with my 2700k for the moment (at least 2700k is better than nothing right? Or at least I hope so). Stupid company sending me the wrong led bulb! Anyways happy new years guys and hope you all have a nice new year

Out of curiousity, anyone got a decent grow with just using a 2700 kelvin light source?

You can get a decent grow by just having a lamp on across the room. They just wont grow straight up

Ive grown  mush with sunlight from the window. But if it's in a closet I'd suggest spending 10$ on a light

I think I got what yogi has except 4 foot and they come in 6 packs. Very short connectors though.

A birdie told me it's a about the lumens & those lights have a lot of them in addition to the 6500k they're 5200lm. Working better than one off the shelf at the store so far. I didn't see the high lumens one at home Depot but maybe didn't look hard enough. Can't beat the multipack pricing I'd think.

I buy them by the single so I have long cords for each one

I use them in my Chamber of Secrets Light Box 👍
