Habitat: North West Florida/Gulf Coast. Shady, used to be a GIANT live oak till hurricane Ivan knocked it over. The mushrooms look to be feeding off it's rotting roots. This is my first post like this. I can go find them again and answer any questions I need to. Thank you for your patience with a mushroom hunting noob. Photos taken Xmas Eve.

Wow that was quick. It seems the poison in the Jack-O-Latern or False Chanterelle is being researched as a possible drug for cancer. Thank you very much! Very interesting.

No prob. If you take a bunch of them and put them in a bucket of water and smash them up real good and stir it up with a stick or a broom handle and let it sit for a few days, especially in the sun, you’ll have a gross, slimy mess on your hands

Sounds crazy but they totally are. Hopefully it's effective.

So THAT's what I found on my bike ride yesterday. Although I'm in California, so I'm assuming Western J O'L. I'm going to share a gross slimy mess tonight with friends... Happy New Years Eve.
