Is it okay to bury spent substrate out In freezing temps? I could Also possibly keep it in a bucket in the basement ( low 60s ) until spring rolls around?

I'd throw it out and make up some fresh tubs.

Is it that easy to get an outdoor patch going?
Does it matter if cubes dont normally grow in your region?

Bet your neighbors are all like "that Chronicr guy is fanatical about his squash patch, I see him check under each squash leaf for squash bugs every day, all summer long!" Little do they know what secret ingredient makes butternut squash pilaf really hit the spot.

I threw a couple bacterial jars and cakes, old stumps and spent sub out in the gum bottom a week or two ago. Covered it with pine straw and leaves, went to check on it....apparently my deer love mushrooms as much as me! They completely uncovered it and munched down on what they could forage....I was a little bummed, but then started laughing at the thought of some whitetail tripping balls through the woods🤣
