Hi all-
I'm a novice and my first attempt totally failed - perhaps bad spores or something else happened, but nothing spawned at all. This time it's moving right along and I could use some input! Here is where I am:
I have 6 BRF jars which I inoculated about 20 days ago. They are nearly covered/white in mycelium . Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to plan out the next steps because I've been out of town! I have a 5 pound bag of premade casing/compost that I ordered online. I am a bit limited on space and it will be easiest if I can use shoeboxes/small tubs.
Is there a formula that can tell me how much substrate is to be used for each shoebox? How many jars for each shoebox, etc? I am ready to go and buy a few tubs, and whatever gear I need but not sure how to proceed.
thanks!!!

spawning is when u mix ur spawn be it grain or brf or whatever u used with your bulk substrate. what you are doing is still colonizing your spawn. since you will be using a bulk substrate there will be no need to consolidate said spawn. just wait for it to be 100% colonized then mix(spawn) it to your bulk substrate at what ever ratio u decide to use. then you let that colonize and when 100% you will fruit your bulk substrate. cubes do not need a casing layer. id suggest researching the methods of growing and terminology while you are waiting as knowing exactly what everything is will only help u achive your end result😃

I’d use coir.
Usually for shoeboxes people use 1-2 quarts of spawn, so figure out how many of your jars that converts to then add the same amount of whatever bulk you’re using.
