Agar Question

I am introducing myself into agar teks and I decided to start with PDA in plastic plates.
I know the recipe and how to poure, but I was wandering what do you do for cleaning the plastic plates, do you sterilize them or do you just clean them with alcohol?
I would prefer not to modify the plates
Thank you for your answers

PP5 plastic like pastyplates?
or petrie dishes?
Petries that you pour are 1 time use unless you get the glass
pasty plates or other "no pour" plates are sterilized in the PC, so just a nice wipe out with a paper towel before filling and PC'ing is sufficient

pp5 pastyplates
Thank you Camera,
Is it possible to sterilize unmodified plates whitout getting them wet?
I would like to sterilize PDA and the plates at the same time in the PC and then pourgue the plates in the SAB, so I make sure they're both sterilized and I can do many plates at once.
How can I manage to sterilize many plates at once in the PC?

Here's a good write up on no pours but I'm prettt sure your going to have to modify a little other wise the pressure will mess with your containers. I'm not sure if its just that the lids will pop open or what but I know its not good

You don't pour Pastyplates, you mix and sterilize everything together. Covering them in foil is the answer to your other questions.
Sounds like you might be confusing terminology or haven't read the teks.

Well you cant sterilize anything in a PC with out it getting wet on the outside.
I think you are talking about sterilizing pastyplates while they are empty and sterilizing your media seperate and pouring them in a SAB...
If that's the case then yes it is doable but why dont you just buy petris then? Either way of you wanna do that you could seal the pp5s and the lids in s vacuum sealer bag. Then u could stack them and pull the whole stack out then open the bag in the SAB and pour them... I do this for sterilizing tools and it works well..

I think he is trying to figure out a way to use miniround with out modifying them, hence, pouring them...
It would work he could just sterilize them while they are empty or stack them and seal them in a vacuum sealer bag...
Not a bad idea if u just dont want to buy petris...

If that is the case and he doesn't want to mod anything then I would suggest the half pint mason jars with plastic 1 piece lids
as others of pointed out, its kinda confusing on what you are looking for
Pour agar = sterilizing the media, and pouring into 1 time use petries that come sterile in package
No pour = using PP5 plastic containers, filling with your yet to be sterilized media, and PC'ing the whole thing with the media already in the plates
*is the use of "media" out of place here lol? Sounds good but it may read like I'm retarded if that's not how its used

That sounds like a logistical clusterfuck. I can't imagine trying to pour even 500mL worth of minirounds, they're just not designed for that kind of work. Just the handling of the lids is going to fuck you one way or another - whether it's your agar cooling in your media bottle or the amount of time your plates are left exposed. Even just the space consumption sounds entirely impractical. I mean, go for it, but I don't see the worth.

Not at all. 'Agar' is simply just an agar agar-based medium for cell culturing. Collectively, media. Grain is media. Coir is media. Shit is media. Canvas, film, paper, air, water... Media is a bit of a slut of a word.

I don't want to buy petris, I prefer pp plates.
I want to pour pda into pastyplates sterilizing both at the same time in the PC. In that way I can do more agar plates at once, because I can stack the plates in the PC.

Thanks you understood me, I will try that, it's the kind of answer I was looking for. Will it work with a zip pp bag?

We used to just stack these and put the containers in one filter patch bag or vac seal bag and lids in another and pour in front of the hood
