I just sat on my bed, popped open a pre-made agar petrie, and dripped in a drop from a Golden Teacher spore syringe.
Will it contaminate?

For the record, it is going to show contamination becasue you're introducing dirty ms solution to agar; but you sealed the deal likely anyway. You can get SOME success without a SAB or FH, but I've never understood the point of wasting resources like that.

Spore syringes are usually dirty in and of themselves but the air in your room is defiantly dirty. Juat to play devils advocate though, when working with agar we transfer several times to eventually get clean plates so technical even if your plate contames you should get some mycelium to transfer. I would transfer under better conditions though like an sab. The laziest shit I've done was nock up brf jars with a ms syringe, everything was set on the open door of my stove I had cocking so the subsequent rising heat kinda acted like a buffer repelling stuff that would otherwise fall on it. Every cake produced w/o contames I did flame the needle though. I wonder if you could do somr agar transfers the same way.

kind of like in biology lab back in school we'd pour and inoculate our plates next to bunsen burners in the open air, the logic being the flame would keep all the baddies from landing on the agar. i've always wondered how effective the method actually is. definitely easier to work with than a sab.

Brf cakes can be inoculated because they have a dry verm layer. 13 years ago we did it on the kitchen counter and rarely ever had any issues. Bunsen burners are great for cultures you plan to keep for a week but a sab is super effective and far cheaper

Indeed-- should I get anything salvageable I will transfer it to a sterile plate in a still-air.

If you look closely there appears to be some contamination at the center of the plate and around the edge of the plate, although I don't have my reading glasses on and I'm viewing the image thru braille so I could be mistaken.
