Edible substrate for Lion's Mane

Salut, I'm wondering what reliable recipe to use for growing LM with only edible ingredients, like without wood, Verm.. because I'm planning to munch on the colonized substrate after I get enough mushrooms from it. I'm really after erinacines. It'll be nice to only use cereals so at the end I can blend it and add it to recipes such as Corn soup, stew, or with mushroom soup which I adore! Instead of adding flour or corn starch..

Depends what you consider edible...
I've had moderate success fruiting LM from a mix of rye, coffee and cardboard, I used to eat cardboard as a kid so I'd consider that mix edible...!
Experiment, try different mixes: I'm currently testing out growing LM on substrate that includes the potato based "plastic" wrapping for newspapers and magazine!

I'm definitely allergic to eating cellulose and newspaper and plastic

Sounds like straight grains would be a good starting point for you then. Maybe rye coffee and gypsum? You definitely wont get the best yields but it works at least.
Then start experimenting once you've got that working. (And report back on what works and what doesn't in the name of science lol)

Just nocced couple of jars filled with a mixture of Oatmeal+ milk + Cornflakes + coffee! Haha I suggest to name it "Breakfast sub" Filled the jars to the top since I'm to fruit without removing from jar, think they're too fragile to handle but I could be done... I'll skip milk next time or drop pressure to 13 psi, cuz I think lactose did caramelize. Now gotta wait.

Plain old rye jars. Then you can have some mushroom tempeh.

Oh yeah already did two jars but I used wheat grains (not sure if it's the same as rye?) Planning to use it as a spawn but can't hard wood pallets around me, may give coffee grounds a try.

Be careful though, you're basically creating the perfect environment for hidden bacteria...

Corn might be a better option...wheat has gluten and would glug up any soup or stew though the myc might proceess a lot of it .

If you're planning on using that as spawn you probably wanna do so pretty soon before it starts pinning in the jar. Have you grown LM before?
*for the record wheat is not the same as rye, although both make for good spawn

Not a bad idea. Add a small amount of colonized lion's mane rye to a chopped bean blend, then sterilize and inoculate with Rhizopus oligosporus. The mycelium is medically useful.
