I found some Psilocybe Cubensis and Panaeolus Cyanescens this evening. These cubensis in the last photo weight about 14 grams total. I know one is old

Thank you. Here are the Panaeolus Cyanescens and one Psilocybe Cubensis that looks like it got baked in the sun: It took a lot of trial and error to get my Panaeolus Cyanescens to stay so in tact.

Bags are not the best way to collect fragile mushrooms, in my experience. I suggest you try to use a paper cup or a juice carton with the top sawed off. Or you can gather reeds and straw and make yourself a braided basket.

An old easter basket is great for your mushrooms, it allows spores to continue dispersing while you hunt.

I cut little brown paper bags in half and put them in an over the shoulder style bag. Put a handful of fruits in each paper bag..The baskets are a great idea but not ideal for hopping fences, squeezin thru barbwire and occasionally being cornered/chased by bulls lol

I like this fat pin I found. It looked kind of dry and old. Does anyone know what these 2 purple spored mushrooms are? I found them next to the Panaeolus Cyanescens

It's a puffball, something like Lycoperdon or something similar and psilocybe cubensis.

Well, they got themselves a bumpy ride home.
Maybe the Rumanians making hats and handbags out of Fomes fomentarius could start weaving mushroom baskets as well? How cool wouldn't that be - a mushroom basket made out of mushrooms!

A basket would be great if I knew exactly where the mushrooms were growing, but I have to travel on foot up to 3 miles or a mile at least just to find them. There is one spot I know that has been barren for a year. It would be some sort of hassle to carry a basket with me. A backpack might work better. But I usually run mostly just to get there. I ran home with 2 before I just held in my hand, but fairly large Ps. Cubensis. If I know there are big cubes, then I might bring a gallon ziplock and fan them when I get the chance. And I had dissected the caps if they’re extra large

Just found these purple monsters when I went back to the same spot as yesterday. The big one is 29.3 grams. Here are shots of the haul and a group size reference:

Get a small, cheap basket, put it in a tote bag and carry it over your shoulder. It weighs next to nothing, you can do 10 miles easily.
I use a 32 litre backpack where I stow 1 litre juice cartons (top cut off) vertically, I can get eight of them to fit perfectly. The setup is stable, the mushrooms will get air enough not to start decomposing or getting soggy on the walk back (this is usually for liberty caps). Then there is even space for a pack of sandwiches and a bottle of water (or beer) in the outer pocket. It helps being thorough when putting the mushroom in the cartons, I prefer to lay them one by one horizontally, alternating which direction the caps point so they make up even layers. If I can help it I'll make sure the drier specimens are in the bottom, and the more wet ones on top.
