ID Guesses? California--Various Mushrooms From This Week
    #26402297 - 12/27/19 12:03 AM (4 years, 1 month ago)

Here are some mushrooms I saw recently in Southern/Central Coastal California.  If anyone wants to suggest anything about the mushrooms, thank you!

Mystery Mushroom A

Southern/Central Coastal California: irrigated woodchips on landscaping

There were a few different types in the same area so not sure which are the same species or not.

Mushroom B--I think it's an Oyster

Growing on fallen oak branches in forest canyon. Spore print is white

Mushroom C

Woody stem, growing in garden woodchips, coastal california.  Pretty mushroom.

Mushroom D

I think Hairy Curtain Crust fungus (stereum hirsutum)

Mushroom E

Growing in grass--very slimy.

A look like a Hebeloma species. Radish-like odor and a dull brown spore print will confirm.

Hohenbuehelia sp. for B, I think.

C are probably Rhodocollybia.

You're likely right on Stereum for D.

Last ones look like Bolbitius sp., probably B. titubans.

I agree that B could be Hohenbuehelia, microscopy is the only way to separate them from Pleurotus.

Sorry--not used to the format of this board.  But this response is meant for everyone who's posted.

Mushroom A--these little brown mushrooms are difficult for me to tell apart. I'll have to pay attention to smell, especially with possible Hebeloma.

Mushroom B --ugh looks like this one also has white spores. http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Hohenbuehelia_petaloides.html
Oh well--I don't really like oyster mushrooms anyway. : /

Mushroom C--I'm clueless about little brown mushrooms.  I looked up Rhodocollybia but there are a lot of varieties.  These ones had really tough stems, and the mycelium was also almost like roots as thick and tough as it was (I saw mycelium in the chips before seeing the mushroom).  And the cap grew weird because of leaves around it, but was brittle.

Here's another photo

And this is them coming up through the leaf litter.  The top of the cap looked almost veined like a leaf--maybe because the gill pattern shows through? idk The picture is blurry.  I'll make an effort to slow down and make better observations.

B. Titubans makes sense--there were immature ones there and they had yellow caps.  I see these in lawns around here a lot.

Thanks!

“A” kinda looks like it could be Agrocybe praecox.
