Good afternoon and merry Christmas.

So a bit of a story I'll keep it brief. This is a vivosun tent and it is in my cold basement and is the only option I have right now. The heat is regulated between 68 and 72 which seems to be the best my little oil heater can do for now. The warm mist humidifier helps keep the heat and humidity up. And the fan runs every so often to provide fae and circulation. So... These are all CVG PS. Cube tubs.

I had 11 of these tubs put into fruiting 10 days after spawning and the rest are still colonizing. I had originally left the lids off because I was trying to create an environment in the tent that of which would be the inside of a monotub, but I noticed that the surfaces were drying out and the mist from the humidifier didn't really moisten the surfaces and instead the walls and ceiling of the tent were soaked. So originally lids off, mister running for an hour every 2 hrs and the fan running 30 minutes every 1.5 hours.

I don't think that method is going to work so I decided to put the lids back on loosely and just manually mist and fan for some extra fae on-top of the fan running. The new configuration is the mister runs 30 minutes every 2 hrs and the fan runs 30 minutes every 2 hrs right after the mister turns off. I hope I've explained my configuration clearly.. reason I'm posting is because I want to know if there is anything I'm missing and would love any input. The 11 tubs have been fruiting for 2 days no pins yet, but expect some soon. I am very very lightly misting now once a day, holding the mister bottle a foot above the tubs and letting the mist settle on the surface very gently, and the reason and I am still using the warm mist humidifier still is to keep the room humid and to aid the heater to keep the heat up. Because the basement is cold, the heater is running alot, drying out the air so I feel it is required to have the mister going. Either way I can't rely on the mister to mist the tubs anymore.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Here is the setup. 12/12 light if anyone wanted to know.

Below 70% humidity isn't good. If you have a casing layer this will help but you still want as high RH as possible. Also those tubs dont look fully colonized. Unless you put a casing layer around the sides of the tub after colonization or something? They won't really fruit unless they're fully colonized first. I don't think you'll get enough FAE with the lids mostly on like that. Unless your doing a lot of fanning manually. The more FAE the better as long as you can keep the humidity of the microclimate at the surface of the substrate as close to 100% as possible in my opinion. So I say leave the lids off, get better misters and mist manually more often. If you do this and you can achieve proper humidity at the surface of the substrate I'd also say you could do with more fan time. I've seen monotubes fruit amazingly with a fan on them 24/7. You just have to put more work in misting and things to keep the microclimate optimal. It's also much easier to keep high RH in a mono though.

Thanks for your reply. No casing layer on these. Yeah I've always put into fruiting conditions around the 10 day mark but I suppose some more colonization time would be in order.

So you suggest I take the lids off completely again and just hand mist more often which should keep the surface RH near 100%. If this is the case, it should be alright if the rooms RH remains between 70 - 80 which is where it remains with this particular cycle? Also if you suggest I put the fan on more often.. what cycle would you suggest and which direction should the fan be facing? Thanks!

I fruit without a casing in 20% ambient humidity and can dial the room up to 38% at most with no issues. Introducing fresh air no matter the ambient rh at spawn is good and normal. Low ambient humidity isn’t an issue. High ambient humidity can slow the evaporation of water from the substrate so you can run the tubs more open with high ambient humidity or more closed off with low ambient humidity. It’s all relative. Just watch surface conditions. Hard to comment on the tent without seeing photos of the surface conditions of your tub but be careful that you don’t over complicate it with automation.

Thanks for the reply. I agree i feel like I'm going too overboard with trying for automation when just simply misting will be good. That is why I wanted to take the lids off completely to encourage evaporation because the ambient RH was higher than your setup but here is some updated photos. I gave a little mist a little while ago. If I keep the lids on as located on the photo I think that should provide enough fae and evap for pinning but also hold surface RH near 100%?

Edit: also someone said earlier they don't think I'll get enough fae with the lids like that but how can these tubs get less Fae when monotubs stuffed tightly with polyfil get adequate fae I think this should be fine.. even maybe the lids are too open already

Yeah this sounds like good advice. It is largely relative. I only know what works in situations I've seen and they weren't like your set up so I'm probably not the best person to be taking advice from in this situation.

Mushrooms were easier to grow than weed for me.

But man the science gets too much.

I love the science of it and trying to dial everything in to replicate nature as closely as possibly if not better. Agar work is cheating nature though, that stuffs amazing.

You guys think the tub lids open slightly cracked and the fan running will cause enough evaporation for pinning trigger?

In conclusion, I will keep playing around with my configuration but it seems like everything I'm doing is alright so far. Changes I will/did make:

Will colonize longer and allow surface to be more colonized.

Facing my fan upwards to create better circulation in the room

Run the mister less, fan more

Manual misting and fanning of the individual tubs

Thanks for chiming in
