CPU water cooling??

I've built a bunch of PCs in the last 25 years and always used air cooling.
It seems if water cooling came of age and quite sophisticated!
What gives?

I've been involved in IT for a long time too, noticed that these closed liquid cooling systems have really come a long way. I built a couple of CAD workstations recently and chucked in basic Corsair liquid cooling. These machines are battleships, even under heavy load when rendering the temps barely move.

Theres only one downside to liquid cooling. A little more maintenance is involved. You have to flush/replace the coolant every so often, just like a car's radiator: http://www.techwarelabs.com/time-to-flush-that-liquid-cooling-system/
So a little more work involved but u get excellent cooling performance
However, as mentioned by Northern, theres new closed-loop liquid cooling systems that do not require any maintenance

Just tried to install Corsair top of the renge liquid cooling kit...
What a peace of junk. The instruction manual... is atrocious
It comes with 3 types of screw on boots/screws. 3 different places they go to. All 3 look exactly the same, maybe microscopic difference...
The thing looks cheap. I was busting my ass for good hour tried to fix em, it came to a point where cap bolts wouldn’t screw together at all.

HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO SUPPLY A PROPER MANUAL???
I’m returning this thing to amazon first thing tomorrow
And am going on benchmark sites and look for a decent air cooler

After having a water pump fail, and catastrophic overheating as a result it's a big no from me. The pump was not easy to hear and invisible. The remote radiator was still being cooled by the fan, so everything *appeared* to be working. Right up until it all cooked.
Traditional fans are easier to see/hear if they are working, and metal heatsinks easy to clean with canned air.
I'm sure the performance when optimal is better, but not enough for the risk involved in my use cases.

I personally like the Corsair AIO series, they are pretty solid beasts. On my old computer I had a Corsair H110i GT with an i7-4790K that I was able to overclock to 4.9Ghz with.
AIO's are nice, cheap, and low-maintenance compared to full circuit solutions.

The first time I installed a Corsair it bent my mind for a while, had to search a forum topic up to get the tip I needed. But they're simple once you've done it once.

That Noctura is pretty sweet. I like the brown-themed one, classic and swanky.
Found this one: https://m.ebay.com/itm/Cooler-Master-V8-GTS-High-Performance-CPU-Cooler-with-Horizontal-Vapor-Chamber-/283728233567?_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1
Says it has a Vapor Chamber. No idea what those are but i love me some vapor

Maybe it has a little chamber to hear your weed up for you, eco friendly weed vape.
In all seriousness though I just read about the vapor chamber tech and it sounds pretty cool http://cmu.coolermaster.com/vapor-chamber/

Speaking of "clean set ups"

I got a "smart" PC case. 2 Compounds: One for Mobo CPC memory and 3d cart, and second for PSU, HDDs, SSDs and wiring
