Which Petri Dish looks best to you for tiger drop?

Hi guys and gals, It’s been a while but I am back at it again.
I have some Mazatepec on dishes and this is after the first transfer. I found it interesting that one dish shows good mycelium growth that is thin and running while the other is fluffy and thick. Which dish would you use for a tiger drop? Should I go for second transfer instead if yes, which one?

I would do a couple of transfers from the second plate, anywhere between 12 an 5 o’clock. Then if they look good drop away

Agreed. Wouldn’t mess with the first, lots of good looking stuff on the second but I would definitely transfer again.

Updated: 3rd transfer cleaned them up nicely. What’s the verdict now, 4th transfer or give them another week to grow and Tiger Drop.

I can never decide in this situation if it’s better to let the plate grow for a week or if you’d get more out of dropping it now and getting an extra week in the jar.
Those plates have some nice rhizo but it’s also tough to tell if they’re sectoring or hit bacteria when they grow spots like that.

Notice how the rhizo growth kinda avoids certain areas? I wouldnt use those plates. More xfers needed.
Small cuts. As small as you can manage.

Looks good.
Do you guys try to land the transfer with the myc side down or up? I always try for down but it doesn’t always work out that way.

Update on the 4th transfer. This image really shows how much slower growth the PE is versus the Mazatepec. I am quite happy with what I am seeing so far unless I get shot down for how things look. I will most likely make some agar slants of the Mazatepec and PE to speed up the process next time around. I also think making a grain master might be the next best step for the Mazatepec. PE is a week or two out yet.
