Only bacteria on Agar...is this just badluck?

Hi all, I've been juicing this forum for all its valuable info and finally decided to start my first grow using Agar. The info on this forum is gold, just want to thank you all in advance.
So.. i bought a premix MEA from Amazon, some petris and build myself a little SB. All sterile precautions I found in the Teks were used, alcohol, torch, gloves, SB etc. I actually poured some plates and left them without inoculation to see if anything would grow and nothing did so Im pretty confident in my sterile technique.
My issue is this, I inoculated about 15 dishes and only get dark/yellow ugly looking bacteria growth on my agar. I sourced the spores from a reliable source and have used them to inoculate jars which did show growth. The MEA from Amazon also had good reviews. Any idea where what could be the issue here.
My next step is getting new spores and mixing my own agar recipe. I also have a couple jars that were inoculated before and are showing growth, Im thinking of taking a piece from there and putting it on a couple petris to see what happens.
Im just confused why I would get no mycelium growth on any of the plates...is this common or just my bad luck?
Thanks!

How long has it been? It’s not abnormal for mycelium to take a month to germinate. Just yesterday I had mycelium finally show up that was inoculated with a syringe on Nov 18 (also had bacteria in the syringe which is fairly common).

Contamination in spore syringes isn’t unusual at all, a reason why using agar is Always recommended. It’s possible you have a shitty syringe, pictures of your plates will help to diagnose if you can get anything from them.

Here is a couple pics of the dishes, no mycelium growth to salvage on any of them, just yellow goo. They were inoculated on Dec 9th, so over 3 weeks now.

I'd say get more spores and try again sounds like a bum syringe. Maybe your cakes will pan out and you can score a clone and print to do agar work. I'm sure someone has a print for ya. Hell PM me an address ill send you one for Christmas. But it looks like you blew your nose on those plates. Fuck that. I like to use a print and a few q tips that I PC in foil to noc up plates. You get some good colonies that only need a transfer or two before grains.

Yeah there nothing good there. Looks like you got unlucky with your spore syringe. Your doing things the right way though so get more spores and try again. You’ll get there

I agree, do not open them, just toss outside in garbage.
Also, there is a bit of good luck here as well. The best place to find contams is on agar. It sucks way more when you are looking at a bunch of jars that are all going bad.
Look at the site sponsors page for some spores and skip syringes, its not worth it unless you know its clean. Like from the sponsors page.
