flammulina

So since you apparently can't really key out flammulina I am wondering is there any that are inedible or toxic? Anything to look out for? I'm not finding much info out there. It all has been deleted or is very outdated. I am assuming the answer is no, but its very hard to sort through the info on this genus. It seems sequencing is the only way to figure out whats going on with it (according to old posts by alan). Has there been anything worth noting recently? Also there were bluing species that some have found. Curious about this as well. It seems like people are just calling every flammulina they find "velutipes".  Thanks.

All I know is that the occurrence of the species other than F. velutipes is poorly mapped due to macroscopic similarities, with
the exception of F. ononidis which apparently grows on the roots of the plant Ononis spinosa and thus appears terrestrially
rather than on wood. F. fennae also may appear to grow terrestrially, and is normally paler than its relatives, but since appearance
varies in all of these species and the features are kind of overlapping, I guess DNA is the way to go. As far as I know all of them
are edible like F. velutipes.

Appreciate it anglerfish. I feel bad about not collecting and sending in the blueing ones I found a few years ago. Now that area is being developed. I may sneak in there anyways and check since I just found some flammulina fruiting a few miles from it.

Thanks for the help and have a good Christmas.
