When I use metal lids I use clear silicone to seal the hole I punch with a paper hole punch. Perfect size, the port pops in too. I recently went to plastic pp5 lids and due to polypropylene being hard to adhere to ,I use in jb plastic weld to secure the filter. Sandpaper both surfaces and apply. Also I leave the lid loose while pressure cooking. I do this because I had leaks around the filter disk. Now what use is all the filter if we have a leak around it. Lol.

I was having the same problem with the pp5 and silicone. I'm using metal lids but my syringe filter housing is made out of polyurethane and slips right out of the rtv silicone.
So I made a hole slightly smaller then my syringe filter, heated up the lid with a lighter and forced the syringe filter through the hole while it is red hot making a tight fit. Then I applied a liberal amount of RTV silicone to the underside of the lid around the filter.
I think its doing ths trick but I have to be extremely careful not to bumpt the syringe filter because the melted seal keeping it tight can easily be broke resulting in a leaky filter... it sucks but it's the best I can do with them.
I ordered some other ones that were made out of abs but they just get deformed in the PC...
Do you have a link to the filters you use?
I'll have to try JB weld...your saying it bonds to the pp5 well?

Ya what do u mean? Are you advocating micropore tape as an effective filter?
Now that you say it, I always used one layer of micropore tape ontop of a hole in my PP5'S and I never had issues with contamination....maybe it behaves differently on a grain jar that gets shook though...
I'd imagine if the grains got the filter starchy and moist from shaking it, something could germinate and grow through it...
