Has anyone took shrooms with an ssri and had it help your depression?

Took a dose while taking an ssri and no real effects. Just a mellow buzz. Just wondering if anyone else had done this and had it help with their depression?

I take sertraline (aka Zoloft) for OCD and anxiety (no issue with depression). On dosing days, I either don't take the SSRI or else postpone the dose until after the hongitos are done with me. Gets much better relief from symptoms for me.

I had a friend that took zoloft that wanted to try dmt. I loaded up 30mg in a bowl so she could dip her toes in, but nothing happened. she was smoking it right not burning it and holding in the hits but that was a low dose. I then gave her 60mg, still nothing, so I threw in some without weighing what I estimate was 100 to 200mg, after smoking all that her pupils were huge so my other friend that was there and I looked at eachother and nodded we knew she was tripping but i looked at her and she said she wasn't tripping, I started to question her about anything else she was on and that's when she told me she was on zoloft. I had read about ssri's making psychedelics less active but this was the first time I saw it for myself. She was not tripping at all, but that was dmt, I'm not sure if this is true for all psychedelics

The data on this seems mixed, and I can vouch for this from personal experience; I took Citalopram for two years followed by Sertraline for a further 5 years. I then tapered off the SSRIs to dose instead with Psilocybe Cubensis mushrooms. The first trips did reintroduce me to the psychedlic headspace, after a 32 year hiatus, but these initial trips were very weak: changing mood colour of the room, room size swelling and shrinking, and crawling but weak CEVs. I upped the dose and upped the dose up to at one point almost 9g dried with still weak effects. At almost 6 months being completely free from SSRIs, I had my first “real”trip, with strong effects I remembered, and the after-glow.
So going back to my original comments, the current data seems mixed: approximately 50% of people on SSRIs can trip while still on the SSRIs and have a decent trip; and approximately 50% need to miss a couple of doses before the mushrooms would have a decent effect. But for a very small minority, including myself, people have to be completely off SSRIs before they can trip.
Hope this helps, DJ Ed.
P.s. I’m currently taking a medium dose (3.8g dried PC B+) at fortnightly intervals. The after-glow lasts for up to a week, then the second week I am back preparing for the next trip. Seems to be working well, the trip intensity is manageable, and close friends and family are mentioning that I seem happier these days......

I take Effexor/venlafaxine, primarily for anxiety, but I do suffer from occasional bouts of depression. Mostly it has been effective, but nothing miraculous.
This past autumn I had a very, very bad depressive phase (some suicidal days, and was considering hospitalizing myself and taking medical leave from work). But after reading some about psilocybin and depression treatments, I remembered that I had done a few mushroom trips for fun like 15 years ago and then basically had a decade free from depression and anxiety, and was medication-free during all of that time.
I have had a couple of shroom trips over the last couple of months and my mood has completely normalized. I feel like me again. My sleep is better, and my energy and focus are better than they’ve been in years. I honestly forgot this is how I used to feel, and realize now I’ve been in a fog of low-grade depression for the last several years, even on the best of days.
The trips are not like I remember them being years ago. It’s more of a heavy body feeling, almost weighed down and sedated, but not able to sleep. It’s weird. And it takes more shrooms to get me there than the guides/calculators say it should. But I figure that’s the effect of the Effexor.
I’ve been open about this with my psychiatrist and they’re fully supportive, and believe that psilocybin is an amazing treatment for depression.
I’d like to some day soon-ish wean off of the Effexor in favor of occasional mushroom tuneups.
