Hate to be Remedial in an AP class, but...

I posted this message in Bodhisatta's Q&A NewJack thread, and I'll extend my thanks to anyone that can help here too.
I suppose the answer I'm looking for is more Theory than Applied, so I feel alright posting to the elite!
Hey Bod- or whomever can land a solid answer.
I have a new bin working and have a question about surface moisture.
I think I've a handle on what a well watered surface looks like, but I'm curious about evap time and ideal time between watering.
My sub was good going down, but I'm in super low humidity now and I fret without a RH reader, and I'm new.
I know allowing the evap period is good- they need to quench, and metabolize, and then thirst, and then rehydrate- so when is ideal to reload with surface hydration?
As soon as it's dry .25-.5" down, or after it's been dry longer? My sub's CV and depth is 3" in a non-Bod-bin.
Also, I estimate I'm 90-100% colonized, looking healthy, and moving to a consolidation period before fruits.
Or if someone knows where else I can post to grab the right attn, please advise.
Thanks Forum!

You want thin beads of moisture forming across the surface and when these beads of moisture disappear then you spray to replace them, BUT most tubs should be relatively set and forget before the first flush meaning you shouldn't really have to spray much before your first flush (assuming it's dialed in correctly)
Most teks usually mention somewhere in them something about spraying and such

Rad, thanks for the reply.
I suppose my real question is more: how do psil mycleium best respond to watering patterns as they develop?
Do they like to be very promptly refreshed, or does leaving them Thirsty for a period encourage growth?

Ahhh i get what your asking I think
I'm not entirely sure, but id assume a brief period of "being thirsty" would encourage pins to form since evaporation of water off the substrate is a major pinning trigger.
If left "thirsty" for to long though then you risk your substrate drying out to much and not having enough water to support the pinset potentially, realistically though just misting as you notice is needed should be sufficient assuming you check tubs 1 or 2 times a day

Word.
I'm maybe not so worried about Pinset encouragement, as I'm a little out from that, and I think Mr.Rabbit has plenty to report on Pinning...
I've got a block of coir that's thriving near full, and I now consider rhizo-patterned growth and knot formation at surface as I approach Consolidation and Fruiting.
I'm at home near full time so my concern becomes Over-attention.
How can I best coax strong surface formation via watering through my next couple weeks?
Or, like a pastry chef would say- Don't open the fucking oven.
Thanks,

More succinctly,
My garden's surface (as described by TC's here) looks Well-watered for about 2 hr's. Then, visibly, looks as if it should be watered again.
Should I re-water via Visual indication alone, or can I toss some Mush Thoery in my calculation and understand when they're Thirsty?
Much thanks ya'll,

It's purely a looks thing, but if your tub is needing to be sprayed every two hours then either it's not dialed in right or your over saturating it

Appreciate your reply! DNDRND
I'm a habitual hair-splitter.
I dig the seasoned reply, 'Give it water when it looks like it needs it.'
I'm wondering who can give a description of biology.
Why and how and when and why are they Thirsty? I think I know about the organic digestion of substrate, but am wondering about H20.
Maybe my neurosis needs dialing down, hence my garden!

This thread was moved from Advanced Mycology.
Reason: You just have to learn by practice to get an eye for it. You mist as needed if needed. Lots of times tubs can go without and even i live somewhere dry and cold half the year yet tubs remain very low to no maintenance.

I'm only concerned about your Topic Move, Bod, because you answered my query in a pragmatic form only. It was a Theory question ultimately. Whatever about my grow........ what about my mycological quesstions?
Metabolism of H20.
Refer to Stamets? or does this forum have something to offer?

Lol your question isn't advanced. Don't be asshurt because you didn't read the sticky posts or forum descriptions. You're asking the basics of basics
Also, paul is a joke.

Sorry,
I'll refrain from drinking and posting from here out.
I truly appreciate the depth and breadth of talent here.
My patch is flourishing, and I owe that to a surprisingly small group of experts (mods) here.
Sheepish as all get out.....
THANK YOU

Feel free to lock thread, but if not Stamets, then whose books should I buy to get a handle on Psil mush as an organism? Living, breathing, eating, shitting, fucking organism.
My humble-red-faced thanks,
