How many times can you do a grain to grain transfer?

Does anyone know how many generations you can go doing grain to grain without it dying out?
I've heard 3 or 4 times are the max but does anyone have any experience going beyond that?

It's going to be more than 3-4. I think it's generally agreed to keep it minimized but I doubt you will see significant slow down if keeping it under a dozen. I often do a few with no issues.

I remember RR saying he started seeing senescence after 8 g2g transfers. Which really is way more spawn than most small cultivators will be able to put to use in a given grow.

Yeah fruiting space becomes a limiting factor pretty quickly.

It's unpredictable. It's kind of like asking how many years can I live until I get cancer? Also first sign senescence is poor fruiting, not slow colonization.

Here's how I do it. Colonize 10 jars. Take two jars and g2g them to 10 jars each. Spawn the rest. Then take two jars of that batch to 10 jars each and repeat. Smart is right though, Space runs out fast! Space out your grows so nothing goes to waste and so you're not sitting on two pounds of fresh mushrooms that you cant dry. That gets me though a season and my spore prints and slants let me start fresh the next year.
