Growing Lions Mane: Difficult? Still get the same benefits for productivity?

Hey everyone!
I recently started looking into Lions Mane and how it supposedly has many benefits for productivity such as reducing brain fog etc and one of the most recommended supplements is the one by Paul Stamet's Host Defense.
I will probably give this pills a try but I also know that mushroom tends to be pretty easy to grow yourself so I was wondering if anyone has more information on how feasible this project would be and if the benefits one can expect from these pills can also be expected if I simply grow and eat them myself.
I think this is somewhat of a longshot but maybe someone here has experience with this.

From what I understand Stamets doesnt actually put the mushroom fruits I'm his supplements he grows the mycelium then uses that for them with some explanation about how the mycelium is better. Sounds like BS to me and I'd take the fruit bodies over the mycelium any day.
Lions mane are pretty easy to grow and will fruit straight off of grain in quart jars. If looking for small time production just for personal use this will.
If you are planning to cultivate it you will need to invest in a pressure cooker. As well as some other things and do a little research before starting up.
Growing mushrooms isn't hard but you do have to read alot and learn before jumping in its not like planting a seed in some soil and growing a plant.

I've currently got some jars colonizing and hoping to do just that, fruit off grain.
In your experience what does the lions mane mycelium look like? Does it look pretty fine and whispy when colonizing? Almost cobwebby but then consolidates much whiter?

Update if anyone's interested: They're fruiting well enough, got a couple of golfball sized fruits growing out of my pint jars.
Seems they are really keen to fruit, here at only 75% colonisation!

YES. What you said is excactly right, it's extremely thin and wispy - if it looks like cobweb mold it's probably good
They do indeed love to fruit before they even look fully colonized.
I find lion's mane does help with brain fog a lot - my wife and I both have Lyme disease and one of our worst symptoms is neurological issues, which it seems to help immensely. I prefer it in tincture form rather than just eating the fruits though.
There's a link in my signature if you want to try making some tincture

Since posting, my jars have been fruiting (after only 2/3 colonisation!) and I was just wondering how I'd go about making an extract from them...
Thank you for the info I'll check out your method
