hi, this is my first tampanensis fruiting attempt, coir+verm substrate with manure casing.

they look strange. what do these guys miss besides their alien ship? I give them fresh air 3-4x a day will they ever get bigger caps so that I can make spore prints? are they safe to dry and grind, then consume as tea?
thank you for any advice
merry xmas and an amazing new year for all shroomery members and admins

Generally, fungi become too small and numerous at CO₂ concentrations of less than 800 ppm. Above 2,000 ppm, the quality of the mushroom is poor (the stem is too long and the cap is too small). At CO₂ concentrations of 4,000 - 5,000 ppm, mushroom development is inhibited.
It may be related to air exchange, not positive on this though.

Yeah they need more air. Twist the top tub a little to create air holes in the corners for constant fae and mist as needed to keep up the humidity up to stop them drying out. Misting the fruits is fine. Yeah they are fine to eat. I’ve just noticed you used manure casing, what gave you that idea?

That’s pretty normal for tamps that are grown like this. They do need more air but that tubs not going to do it. After you pick them soak the fuck out of the casing and get ready for more. They will still eat just fine. You might get some bigger caps in later flushes but don’t count on it.

You need a saucer shaped tub to grow those things in.

I read here and there that manure might increase potency. I experiment also with no casing and then coir mixed with sand.

Lots more air. If you have time to babysit it on the next flush go open air after you see pins. Tamps are pretty tolerant of frequent misting.

Take a look in myColorado’s journal at Tampanensis sand casing experiment. It will greatly help you.
