Help identifying (possibly a cube?)

Habitat: Coastal northern N.A. I forgot to take pictures of where o found it. But it was alone (which leads me to believe this is not a cube) and hanging out under the leaf of a large fern out of the dirt.
Gills: Color appears similar to cubes. Light brown. Has gills, seem to be cube-like as far as I can tell (I’m a complete amateur)
Stem: Long-ish Diameter is about 4mm, color White
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color: Appears to be purple/black but I come to you all asking for confirmation as I don’t know if this is limited to the P. Family/genus/whatever it is.
Bruising: I DID NOT OBSERVE ANY BRUISING I don’t know if this is important but I squeezed the stem and tried to bruise it as I know it is an indicator. The stem ended up fracturing vertically and peeling like a banana or a soft branch.
Other information: Scent smells very earthy. Like fresh soil in a garden.

The spore print is purple, what type of device are you trying to upload pictures from?

Ah, that worked like a charm!

I feel confident that this is not a cube but I am still curious on what it is to better my knowledge of the many mushies that exist in my area.

Both guesses are amazingly close in appearance but due to location (California) and the characteristic nipple on top of the cap(sorry my terminology is not quite scientific) I would say it’s more likely Leratiomyces riparius.
Color me impressed guys. Your knowledge far exceeds that of my own.
