There is also the fact that the American military is big enough already.

That's for certain.
And many of those other countries are our allies.

I think space force is awesome . Coolest shit ever . But having the assholes in charge of climate science denial in charge of creating something that obviously requires accepting the reality of science is fucking stupid .

Space Force is the first new military service since the Air Force was spun off from the Army in 1947. Space Force will be the provider of forces to U.S. Space Command, a separate organization established earlier this year as the overseer of the military’s space operations.
I wonder why theres a sudden urge for a Space Force. Maybe its a natural progression of the "discontinued" AATIP program:

Seems like a made up accomplishment so Trumps got something to jerk off to. Nothing more.

I see it as making things more consistent.
We have a service for land, sea, and air, so to be consistent it makes sense to have one for space.
As I said before, I wouldn't be opposed to combining all existing services into one, but whatever we do we should be consistent.

Except that space and air are kind of the same.
It's not water and it's not land, it's air. Space is just higher up in the air column.
Technically it should be called the Outer-space force.

They have zero in common. Planes don't fly in space in satellites don't fly in air. Sure, if you want to call it the Outer-space force, that's fine, but it's the same thing.

IMO, it's really just a conduit for big, giant gobs of money further bloating our already bloated military and its attendant industrial complex.
Additionally, I can envision some dems doing the same thing 'in the name of science and staying ahead of our enemies like Russia and N Korea' rather than the Republican line of 'increasing mission readiness and the lethality of our brave, heroic, super-patriotic men and women in uniform'...as they both slobber all over the boots of their industrial overlords while opening the taxpayers' wallet.
TL;DR: dont think it was remotely necessary; think it could've been implemented by any mainstream establishment politician, R or D; & think it's yet another way to further increase our obscene military expenditures.

Earth satellites don't fly at all, unless they are in a rocket being delivered, when in orbit they fall continuously. Technically, with sufficient enough thrust you could make something orbit the planet inside the atmosphere without any means of lift generation via atmosphere manipulation. Of course we don't have that technology, at least not to maintain a stable/continuous earth orbit inside the atmosphere. So, while the technical aspects are certainly different when considering flight and space flight, they aren't mutually exclusive or inclusive. The overlap is large. After all, we haven't figured out how to build vehicles that are strictly intended for space flight, they all have some consideration for surviving in the earths atmosphere. Maybe now that we have a space force we can start manufacturing space crafts in space, that would truly be an impressive accomplishment.

Obama originally planed the Space Force and after review decided it was a waste of money. Those pro-war, big budget, Dems at it again.

Probably another scam for more tax piracy.

Marine Corps is Department of the Navy. Amphibious assaults and other bread and butter capabilities are deemed no longer combat effective (that is, if you take the opinion of the current Commandant, ) Some speculate the Corps could dissipate. Thats just one example......
It is a certanity that warfare operations have moved to space (with the hope of it being exclusive), and all the innovation that comes from $$ and war will perpetuate technological advances.
Don't move me to the conspiracy forum for saying this was a banner year for aerial phenomenona...just by chance?

Stay on target Blue Leader. It sure seems that there is a correlation between the start of the Space Force program and disclosure about Unexplained Aerial Phenomenona. And perhaps an international aspect as China just landed a rover on the Moon this year. Who will fight off the Chinese Lunar Robots for dominance of the hidden but precious Moon resources?

Ive got a buddy who's a trumpster and he swears the moon hasnt beenbhere as long as they say and thatbits some kind of death star that sucks up atmospheres and transports them to new planets. Maybe thats why we need space force?
