Transferring psilocybe cyanescen mycelium from wild patch to outdoor bed?
    #26395506 - 12/22/19 11:59 AM (4 years, 1 month ago)

This year I found a massive patch of cyanescens (Bay Area) and I was thinking of taking some of the mycelium and trying to make a bed in my backyard.  Anyone try this before?  Any tips for success?

I'm only here a few times a year so I don't have time to colonize grain and transfer it.  The bed would be consistently watered by sprinklers and I'll hopefully be back next year to see how it did/add more chips if needed.

Yeah I’ve done it with stem butts just add more chips and keep wet. Woodlovers are aggressive colonizers so non sterile work is fine with them. Once you have a sizable amount of colonized chips layer into a bed of fresh or fermented chips, (submerged for 10-14 days) woodlovers will eat either but they tear through fermented ones faster IME.

Thanks!  I'll give it a go.  Worst case I waste a couple bucks on woodchips I guess

Dont spend money on something that can be found on the side of the highway for free.

I meant the wood chips, utility companies/ highways maintenance crews often just dump them in huge piles on the side of the road.
