are these virus files?
    #2639544 - 05/05/04 01:54 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

my computer is seriously infected and i want to know if these files are viruses...they show up on AVAST (free virus detection/removal software) but it is kind of ambiguous as to if they are viruses or not.  here we go:

kernel32.dll

winsock.dll

wsock32.dll

if they are virues should i just delete them? thanks

Those aren't virus files!

kernel32.dll is the Windows kernel...it wouldn't run without it so don't delete it

winsock.dll and wsock32.dll are the windows "sockets" librarys and are required for any kind of network communication. don't delete them

i suppose it's possible the files could be infected with a virus...but i've never had that happen or heard of it so i doubt it.

No they're not virii (as so many said), but  it's a good thing you asked. You'd have been really fuxxored if you deleted those! :oogle:
