It absolutely does. However it is of an order of magnitude greater here than I have ever seen it anywhere else in the developed world.

You should try it sometime, it's bloody eye-opening out there.

I'm planning on hitting Jamaica in February and doing a South America roadtrip in September.

I got the bug.

Lol, all you do is post insults.  You post zero content worth anything at all.  Having no thought worth anything I guess you are blonde.

You seem to have princess syndrome.  Daddy's special girl.

Verb
sperg (third-person singular simple present spergs, present participle sperging, simple past and past participle sperged)

(slang, derogatory, intransitive) To ramble in excessive detail, as someone with Asperger's syndrome would stereotypically do.

https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/sperg#Verb

Seems like an accurate statement.

What’s noobie about it?

You did also say something about people shitting all over a nation whenever there is a thread like this. So yeah I thought you were referencing disparaging names for the US when you said that.

But if you are not trying to censor negative names people come up with then carry on. Limiting it to just wholesome shite would of course be ridiculous. With Morel's posts I have been known to just skip over them if they don't interest me early on.

If he kept the topic open, that might be the case, but the thought experiment involves this phrase....

Why would a founding father give a disparaging name to his newfound country?

Morel, by default, derailed the thread(this was expected, though).  However he kept derailing it and got support from outside forces.

i don't need my eyes opened.  i'm fairly well aware of the ways of the world and all the various people in it.  i've spent lots of time with all kinds of people from all around the globe.

considering i don't partake much in Western "culture", i'm not aching to get out and experience other cultures.  i have a nice, warm rut i've worn.  now if only i had a man-sized turtle shell to hide away from everyone in....

I think anyone that starts a thread in the social forums and feels they have any dominion over where that thread goes (providing it stays within the boundaries as defined by rules and manners) has a fundamental misunderstanding of the psychology of message boards, of humans, and very probably; of life itself.

It's like giving birth to a child and then expecting to always have complete power over said child.

It just doesn't work that way.

I like that one.

But if it was a great country we wouldn't have to enforce it.  It'd take a whole new appraoch or we are going to destroy ourselves.

Maybe the thought experiment wasn't that great. I propose that the "Alternate Names for the United States of America" thread would be dead in the water if everything had to adhere to the thought experiment. If any name is fair game then it has some potential life in it.

I think it's a good thing that mods here don't go overboard trying to curate threads so that they are only about the narrow thing the OP wanted to talk about.

One or two posts, sure.  But when morel made every post a derailment, whether the op has done the same or not, the thread ettiquite is being compromised.  Technically it’s called spamming.  It’s against pub rules however it is subjectively enforced usually involving emotive reasoning.

Whenever I interact with people here who have that 'victim' mentality I almost always seem to be 'on something', according to said person. There's a distinct pattern.

Once again you seem to misguidedly believe that I do the same as you and pick up only on a recent example/low hanging fruit (microdosing, on this occasion) to latch onto but it's far more than that. I've seen you many times before have a whinge about when a thread doesn't go in the direction you want it.

Unfortunately I don't have the kind of epic memory that Burke & 1234 have but I'm sure I could find a bunch of examples, were I willing to put in the time.

I don't see any spamming above. He and ND were interacting. ND chose to engage, he even admitted that was his bad.

Will you be happier when Siri is moderating for you?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you... THE OFFICIAL DEXTER TRIPPING PLAYLIST!

My Tripping Playlist

Many centuries ago, there existed a formation of man. This version of us was of great power and great enlightenment. There came an evil presence known as the Babylonians. They are said to have reconfigured our DNA to make the majority of it void. This has encapsulated us in our limited, selfish ways. To seek truth we must tune our minds to the right frequency and only then we will truly know what to do.
