The next movie I wan't to watch is The Lighthouse. With Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattison.
The short summary from Imdb
"Two lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s"

I saw that pop up a while back; it does look dope. I dig those psychological movies that take place in a single location. Past few years I haven't seen barely any new movies; almost all old movies and shows and youtube channels and podcasts and shit.
Newest podcast i've gotten into is Kill Tony; if you dig comedy it's pretty fucking hilarious.

I think it has something to do with difference in opinion, and individuality. Some people were captivated, and others were not.
I get what you're saying about 4, 5, & 6 not being as epic now that you've grown up, but I think that "cheese" factor with some of the acting might be intentional. It's not supposed to be a hard-hittin' action thriller or anything, though.
I thought episode 1 was good when it came out. I was young enough then, and didn't have all the hang-ups that I do now. 2 sucks, but has it's moments...same with 3. Force Awakens was meh, but good enough to be passable (imo). The Last Jedi was terrible, and I don't know how Ryan Johnson can sleep at night. Rise of Skywalker felt like it was all over the place, and rushed. Too much non-stop action, and not enough story...but had it's moments.
None of the new movies have that rewatchable essence. They lack the little bit of depth, and mystery that the originals had...I can watch those on repeat.

i actually liked episode 1 when i saw it. young jedi was also a very fun card game. however, i've watched it a time or two since the theater, and it's just garbage. kind of like when lucas went and re-did the original three movies with all the special effects and shit that wasn't there.
it it ain't broke, don't fix it. if it's broke beyond repair, quit trying to fix it.

I think it was average. I think it was very very poorly conceived and sloppily executed and left much to be desired. But really that wasn't just J.J Abrams fault. The brunt of the fault falls onto Kathleen Kennedy for failing to do her job at overseeing the franchise and have an overall idea and outline for the direction she wanted to the franchise to go in. Its clear she had no idea what she was doing and really went in blind into this trilogy and let the directors and writers on each film do whatever they felt like doing with no regard for a cohesive story, arc, nor pay off for what we got in all three movies.
J.J Abrams is nothing but a dam fanboy trying to cram in endless references and fan service, he did the same thing in TFA. Rian Johnson with his nonsense creative decisions and throwing a monkey wrench into the whole story that TFA had set up prior to TLJ. J.J fumbling to try and bring the story back to what he originally had in mind. And of course Kathleen Kennedy's lack of foresight and vision for what she wanted for this trilogy.
Like I said the movie was entertaining enough to be just passable at best but it definitely wasn't satisfying by any means as a finale to a movie franchise 40+ years in the making.

No. Solo, first one to lose money and the Jar Jar Binks did. Though I like the last one in it which many people hated. Not in a chance in a hell I am seeing this movie till it comes out on Redbox or Netfilix or such.
On a different subject people are turning on the Disney plus series as the series goes on. Say it was amazing to begin with but saying the quality is going way down.
And what the fuck is with this huge Christmas thing with baby Yoda? Personally I am just tired of all of it with the franchise.
Think Empire Strikes Back is the best out of all of them.

Spoilers below.
I saw Rise of Skywalker yesterday. Wasn’t amazing, but I thought it was good enough. I like the sequel trilogy better than the prequel trilogy, but over time I appreciate the prequels more than I did when they first came out.
Here’s where I think they fucked the dog with the sequels: they should’ve all been directed by the same person. JJ should’ve directed all three, or Rian Johnson should’ve (unpopular opinion, I understand, but I really didn’t think TLJ was THAT bad- there were some good ideas in there), or someone else entirely. All three directed by the same person would’ve made it all feel more smoothly continuous. I don’t think these movies were planned and arced out like they should’ve been, which is what leads to my biggest complaint about RoS- the way they handled Palpatine.
IMO, Palpatine being back was a HUGE deal. An incredibly important plot point, one that felt mishandled to me. Wish it was given more attention than it got. What I would’ve liked to see is that they somehow would’ve hinted at Palpatine’s return in episode 8. Just some little clue, like maybe the received transmission that we learn about in that “The dead speak!” intro crawl. Bringing ol Sheev back in ep 8 would’ve given us something to think about for the past two years, and theorize about. Instead, we learned of his return from a goddamn trailer (and don’t even get me started on how trailers are trashing movies these days).
If they couldn’t reintroduce Palpatine in any capacity in episode 8, they should’ve done the same thing as Infinity War/Endgame or Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and split Rise of Skywalker into two movies. They could’ve spent double the time enriching the plot, and actually made a big deal of Palpatine, instead of just being like “guess who’s back fam, lol”. I would’ve liked to see The Emperor’s return given a bit more gravitas.
I took my five year old, it was his first Star Wars movie in the theater. He went wearing his fuzzy Chewbacca jammies, it was pretty cute. When we left I asked him who his favorite character was, and he said, “the guy in the black hood with the gold eyes”. Dude’s favorite Star Wars character is Palpatine, haha.
I’m glad that they had a scene that had Carrie Fischer on screen with her daughter, that was touching. Seeing Leia one last time got me thinking about how amazing Carrie was as a human, and I appreciate that.
Anyway, I liked Rise of Skywalker. Some stuff could’ve been handled better, but all in all it was a nice send off to the whole saga. I thought the very end was perfect, with Rey standing in front of those Tattooine suns, a callback to an iconic image from the first movie. Not bad.

i was honestly disappointed when i walked outta the theater. i didn't like the kiss between kylo ren n rey, there was too much action n not enough story, n the bringing back of palpatine seemed forced. idk it was an alright movie, but it was not a satisfying when to end the trilogy.

The way the directors retconned each other left and right was the big killer for me. If I found something intriguing about one movie it was retconned or just never brought up at all in the next. And all the "fuck me" eyes at the end of ros was like watching top gun level weird.

I remember sitting on the school bus talking to some nerd friend of mine about star wars, and him telling me that there were going to be more Star Wars movies, but they wouldn't come out for another, like, 20 years. (this was in the 80's). I specifically remember him telling me that Palpatine would come back as a clone, and that he had a whole bunch of clones of himself, and that when he died, his spirit could just jump into one of them.
So either my nerd friend was psychic, from the future, or this has been a popular fan theory for a long ass time.

The comics had a. Lot of palpatine clones and were at one point all canon material. Maybe he was reading them?

there were dozens of books/comics released during the 90s, in case anyone didn't know, which expanded far beyond the base story line of the first three movies.

I was looking for this movie the other day. It’s in that weird limbo where it’s no longer in theatres anymore, but it’s not been released “at large” either. That was a week or two ago anyway, maybe it’s out now.
Have you seen “The Witch”? It’s by the same director. It’s about as good of a horror movie as that come. Not in the gory/slasher genre. It’s more of a suspenseful, wicked/creepy vibe. I rewatched it the other day and really realised what a good film it is.
I’ve yet to see the new Star Wars or finish the last one (second of the sequels) so I can’t really comment. In general I prefer the old original episodes, 4-6, the best. Though I don’t dislike them by any means, I like the sequels the least. There is a sort of indefinable “Disney vibe” I get from them that is occasionally a little annoying. But overall I like them and think they are fine movies. Rey is easy on the eyes if ya know what I mean.

He was using epic doses of psilocybin to tap into the holes that exist within the fractal nature of time and experieced premonitions lol
It probably has to do with the comic books like someone said. But idk really.
