Hello everyone, good to all of You.
I am moving to a new place, where I will use basement as my grown room. In the basement there is a separate room.
I would love to get any tips, ideas how to prepare it in clean matter, so far I was thinking to do this but not sure if its overkill or what is best :
- Paint the room?
- Bleach bomb? (still not sure how people do)
- Look for some chemicals that kills all the shit and then vent out ( still not sure what chems but I seen there are some ) _____________________________________________________________________________ Last question separe from room preparation is I have ordered parts for FH, and the only place would be to have in that room where I will grow, will it be fine to have in same place I grow?
I do monotubs.
Feel free to write all good ideas You guys have, I am moving on 1st January and would like to get things done soon.
Sincerly, Tony

Get it clean. Isopropyl 70%, bleach 10%, lysol are all your friends.
Amazon sells lots of cheap shelving units which are great for storing jars, barges, lc’s, petri’s all other supplies.
What is your climate? Do you know that the temperature of the basement will be suitable or have a plan for it to be so? You’ll do best if you can keep it ~21-25.5C (70’s F)

Those are good temps.
You need a fair amount of shelving. You can find some good Rubbermaid plastic ones at places like Home Depo if you in the US, or you can always just build your own. You want spawn colonizing away from floor level contaminants.
Get a dedicated desk and chair to keep your SAB on (if that’s what you are using). I would invest in a 5 stage HEPA unit to help keep circulating air clean.
What sort of plans do you have for it so far? I feel like I might be repeating stuff you already know and want to make sure I’m helping you out with my advice.
I do all my growing in a 10x10 room. It’s small but works out well. I have my spawn colonizing on the other side of the room from where my GH (“Martha”) and monos are for fruiting.

Storage questions I will manage. I live in north Europe, will be using FH, and will have a desk in a the same room where my grows will be.
I was thinking more of how to clean it, prepare before moving the whole project inside

Also just heard that there is a ventilation pipe coming to that room, probably would be just best to seal it? Thinking that some sketchy air will come constantly into my grow room?

Regular sweep and mop with diluted bleach would be just fine.
I'd really figure a way to isolate your FH from the grow, maybe divide it into the FH/bag colonizing area and then the fruiting area. (6mil plastic)
I'd say for shelves believe it or not cinderblocks can be stood vertically and planks run on top to create cheap shelving if you cannot have stuff delivered as you said.
I suggest linkable 6500k lights so you don't take up outlets. Insulation never hurt. And a big dehydrator if you're gonna be using most of a full basement you'll need it.
Where's the vent coming from? An HVAC system?

Okay I see. I’ve never done a basement, and I don’t know how dirty it is, how big it is or how extensive overall it needs cleaning. I’d trace that pipe and see what it is before blocking it off so you know exactly what kind of back pressure you are creating into your home.
Probably starting by mopping the floor. You’ll likely want to end by doing this too. The floor is where the majority of the threat comes from.
For everything else, you will want to scrub everything down with 10% bleach solution. You can add some isopropyl to your spray bottles as well. You can use power towels, rags, towels, etc. Just be careful, wear long sleeved clothes you don’t care about as well as nitrate gloves. Put a dust mask on (the opposite of a surgical mask we use for sterile work - something that prevents YOU from inhalation of bleach as it builds up and take breaks. Don’t overdo it, 10% bleach to water is good.
At the end when it’s all clean, and also as something you can do to periodically keep your room clean, you can do what I think you are referring to as a bleach bomb. The idea is to spray 10% into liberally into the air of room and on walls. After spraying has ceased, leave the room and do not enter for 30min. The idea of doing the this is that it disinfects and traps airborne particles and draws them to the floor.

So You mean like make a little plastic green house for the part where I will have FH?
https://www.brushman.com/catalog/items/cover4x4white.jpg
like this, and I sit inside with FH?
Interesting idea about cindersblocks, You had in your mind something alike?

Those lights look good to me. I don't suggest making a green house for you fh no, but make a room out of 6 millimeter plastic to section off your fh from your grow.
You could have them together don't get me wrong but considering you have a full basement to use IMO it would be worth creating a small room for your hood/ maybe colonization space.

Those are great lights btw. I used the 2’ versions and they tested better than their specs (the 2x’ version specs say they are 14w for 1,680 lm). Just yesterday I busted out the load monitor and light monitor. Lux (at 1 meter) was registering right about what it should (1600-1700), but surprisingly, wattage was less than it said (9-10 watts). Basically getting ~170 lumens per watt which is great in my book.
In case anyone in the US wants to check out, you can get easy via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074R7S5FC

Lab/incubation separate from fruiting for sure. And its nice to have a (dirty)work space too but that can also be in fruiting or your kitchen
My garage is split into three rooms, when you first walk in its the cook and storage/dirty room, all my grain prep, sterilization, coir prep, harvest and dehydration all happen in there, this is also where the hot water heater and central air for the rest of the house live. Then my lab and incubation is a smaller room to the side with wood shelves on the wall for jars and rolling shelves for bags. Then there is a big room for fruiting that has shelves for totes and a table for spawning.
I was considering splitting off incubation and lab but its pretty convenient for grabbing jars and throwing inoculated stuff right into the shelf.
I also considered splitting the fruiting room in 1/2 and doing opejn air with humidifiers and running them like marthas but havent gotten that far yet just stacking monos on shelves for now with pasive exhaust and space heaters..

I've gone without this for a long time but many people use temp/humidity controllers.
Find them on the net, called inkbird, I JUST ordered one (humidity & temp separate) for $70, wish I had years ago. View temp and humidity over WiFi? Cmaaaan
If you have a dedicated floor in your house to mushrooms it seems appropriate.
I use heaters too and it going to feel a lot better for peace of mind having it automatic rather than going to check and make adjustments.

But what about painting the whole room?
place is like I said basement, so it its not kept up as nice as up and it was probably more humid then in normal apartament and is ussualy not so "clean"
or it is fine just to scrub the shit out of walls and floor and bleach whole room and keep closed?
Ofcourse, grain preparations and keeping of cultures will be in the main living area.

How big of a job will that be? Are you painting over cement, theoretically? It may be something that’s more than just an aesthetic add...idk though personally how paint would affect sterility one way or another and that’s how you should be thinking. Treat it as your “lab” and also a workspace. If it’s ugly to you though as is than go for it. A nice color could positively effect your mindset and corresponding workflow you need to make sure the walls are clean as fuck though before so your not trapping stuff that will just exude out later and be a bother. Given all the best conditions anyhow that just what I think

Nah dude skip painting. Put that time into making more bags. Mushrooms don't care about the paint job.

Lol. Good point. Yeah...honestly I would. Only exception in my opinion being if you just can’t bear the way it looks for some reason, kinda like I said.
