Magic Tincture

Magic Tincture - 8g Magic - 120 proof Everclear (important its 120) - sous vide cooker (or anyway to get the water an exact temp) - mason jar
1. Pulverize 8g of magic with mortar and pestle, or the blunt end of a hammer if you're like me. 2. Place in clean mason jar, and cover with Everclear twice the volume (so if your grinded material goes up to 100ml, fill jar up to 200ml. 3. Seal with air-tight lid. Place in a warm dark area. 4. Let it sit for 3 days, shaking every day (you could wait longer but I never do, seems plenty strong) 5. After 3 days strain the contents through a coffee filter to remove solids. 6. WARNING: PERFORM THIS STEP IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA; FUMES CAN CATCH FIRE EASILY! Do this outside or point a fan at your setup to blow the fumes away. With your sous vide water heater prepare a water bath at 84C for your newly filtered extract. I use a tall stainless steel cooking pot to accommodate the heater, and set my extract on top of another jar acting as a stand so it doesn't have to be so submerged. I do this outside. 7. Let the waterbath evaporate the solution over a few hours probably. 8. Once it looks like you have 8ml left, suck up into a syringe (I suck it up, check the volume and squirt it back to be sure) and presto - you now have a magic tincture that is very potent, and 1ml of extract = 1gram of magic, ready to be squirted into your favorite beverage at a moments notice. I prefer sprite with a squirt of lime. In the syringe it will appear completely opaque black, but in small quantities it dilutes completely to a colorless liquid, and is near tasteless. Also no nausea! This has to be perhaps the most enjoyable way to consume shrooms, aside from some minor potency loss.

Man stupid people would see that n think yous shootin it up haha gotta be a better way than a syringe for storage, like maybe a little media bottle or glass pocket shot bottle then melt some wax over the top to be sure no oxidation can take place. Then can take it anywhere inconspicously

Would it be OK to use something higher than 120 (60% alc. vol)? I gots Stroh rum (160 proof/80%).
Do you know how long it stores in the fridge? Is it better than similarly concentrated shroom tea?
What would be the advantages vs. concentrated shroom tea? One advantage in favor of tea seems to be that boiling kills most spores (unlike alcohol), so the resulting product would theoretically last longer, if filled & closed hot(?)

This is essentially shroom tea suspended in 60% alcohol... I feel like it probably doesn't have a long shelf life...I could be wrong though

I presume the alcohol is long gone by the time the recipe is finished. If it relies on alc for extraction, it's probably unnecessary (shroom tea works great and is faster). However, I am not sure what happens when you reach this concentration by just reducing tea through boiling. Maybe this way works better for some reason; anyone tried both?

Ya that's a good point alcohol would evap first next water, or do they both evap at the same time?
I'm not sure how that works.

They evaporate at the same time, alcohol at a higher rate than water, but also (weirdly) causing the water to evaporate faster as well while it's present.

This post is not a dig against tea, this is just a different method of consumption, just as there are many different ways to cook an egg. I prefer this to tea as rather than drink a whole cup, I can just squirt some in 100ml or less of liquid and down it in one swig with no taste or nausea whatsoever. Its also very portable, and ready to go at a moments notice so great for events or communal tripping.
I'm sure tea works just as well and has its own pros!
