Gimmie Your Leftovers.
    #2637283 - 05/04/04 02:56 PM (19 years, 10 months ago)

Here is the deal.

You tell me what leftovers you have and I will tell you something simple and tasty to make with them.

Me, I have leftover beef and pork pot roast in the fridge. Ive also got assorted vegetables.
So Im thinking Pot Stickers.

All I need to do is get wonton wrappers and Im set, Ive got everything else.

First In a pan I will saute finely choped carrot, garlic, onion, celery and mushrooms with a little olive oil, salt, pepper and oyster sauce. Once the vegies are soft Ill shread the meat and add that to heat it and season to taste with soy.

Then Ill lay out the wrappers, fill each with a spoon full of the filling and seal with water into that classic half moon pot sticker shape.

In the same pan Ill heat a bit of olive oil and butter and then brown the stickers on both sides a bit then add 1/2 cup of water and cover for 4 to 5 minutes so that the wrappers will soften up.

Wholla, leftovers made into pot stickers.

WORD TO THE WISE!!!

Read the directions on your wonton wrappers...

I just made mine and the pasta just melted in under 4 minutes..

Im sure some stores have wonton skins that can stand up to 4 minutes of steaming but mine couldnt...

They melted and what I ended up making was a mess..

It tasted good cuz the ingredients were good but the skins just fell apart..

Tasted like a thin flat noodle and pot sticker filling mess.

Well, it was good anyway.  It was just not something that I couldnt pick up and dip. :frown:

Added note.

The skins I used were fresh and not frozen.

What cut of pork would you use for pot roast? I have a crock pot and make pot roast 2 times a month. Do you mix the beef and the pork?

Throw away the cucumber and the lettuce, and eat the pizza cold
Easy as that!
