Even if I agree that all of those events are caused by using fossil fuels, I think it's enough for most people to be very concerned.

I really don’t think we should be leaving the fate of the climate to market forces. Not everything can be solved that way.

We're talking about global commodities here, I highly doubt China or India are going to put themselves at a competitive disadvantage for climate change, not gonna happen.

The problem for people calling for the destruction of the Earth is that the vast majority of humans aren't buying into it.  They're going to need to see at least some destruction affecting the developed world, so far it's not there.

China is currently the leader in renewable energy. Believe me, they aren't the ones at a "competitive disadvantage".

Climate change won't cause "destruction" in the sense that most people see destruction. It's not going to be a bomb going off. What's gonna happen is flooding, stronger hurricanes rearranging neighborhoods, and fires toasting everybody's marshmallows. And that's all already happening. Look at Florida, simultaneously denying climate change is a thing while complaining that they're getting "500 year floods" every year. People are pissed that their housing prices are not dependent on their elevation above sea level, while not realizing there's a reason for that.

People are generally idiots.

I posted last week about Sky News commentators pushing climate change denial.

An activist shareholder put Rupert Murdoch in the spot light this week with a question about the crap journalism coming from News Corp/Sky News Aus.

I doubt things will change, Andrew Bolt, Terry McCrann, Chris Kenny, Peta Credlin have created a climate denial cult and have no option than to keep doubling down on their rubbish claims

https://amp.theguardian.com/media/2019/nov/21/news-corps-rupert-murdoch-says-there-are-no-climate-change-deniers-around-here

Quote:

Rupert Murdoch says ‘there are no climate change deniers around’ News Corp

News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch has said “there are no climate change deniers around I can assure you” after he was asked at the corporation’s AGM why his company gives them “so much airtime” in Australia.

Murdoch was speaking in New York on Wednesday when he received a question from a proxy for Australian activist shareholder Stephen Mayne.

Murdoch was asked about the company’s “stance on climate change”.

The questioner asked: “What do you believe is the global role of News Corp in the geopolitical climate? If you do believe in climate change, Mr Mayne is interested to hear why News Corp gives climate deniers like Andrew Bolt and Terry McCrann so much airtime in Australia?”
Murdoch responded with a promotion of his company’s corporate carbon reduction goals, saying “we have reduced our global carbon footprint by 25% six years ahead of schedule”.

Murdoch, 88, who was born in Australia, said News Corp was the first North American media company to commit to “science-based targets to limit climate change” and the company had cut its energy costs by US$18m ($26.5m) since 2014.
He also said his company was sourcing its print paper from certified sustainable sources.

Murdoch then added: “There are no climate change deniers around I can assure you.”

Bolt, a political commentator and blogger for News Corp Australia, is known for promoting the views of climate science deniers, and for his own attacks on “alarmists” and his derision of climate change science.

Bolt also has a nightly show on Sky News where he often interviews guests who reject that humans cause climate change.

Business writer McCrann is known for attacking the viability of renewable energy in his columns. In an interview on Sky News in early November, McCrann was responding to a question about a statement from 11,000 scientists warning of a climate emergency.
McCrann said: “I am sceptical of that word ‘scientist’. I think if you substitute ‘loon and hysteric’ then that is getting more accurately to the description of who these people are.”

A 2013 study of climate coverage in Australian newspapers found that one-third of coverage was sceptical and pointed to News Corp titles as the dominant factor.

At the time, News Corp said: “News Corp and its newspapers do accept the scientific consensus. There is no company edict on the line to take – editorial control rests with the editors.”

That's called the "opinion segment loophole".

Or, it should be, I don;t know what it's actually called.

Yep this'll do thanks.

The average daytime temp across Aus pushed the record up by 0.6 degree C' last week then inialated that record by another full 1 degree 2 days later.

Doesn't matter how hot it gets, doesn't matter how dry it gets, the scientists journalists paid commentators at SKY just keep going with the climate change denial.

How about some racism with the climate change denial.
This is how SKY News Aus rolls.

I read the Australian to keep them close but I would never subject myself to skynews.

Wow that’s worse than we get. Funny how cold weather proves global warming isn’t real, but hot weather is never evidence of anything. He has a very amateurish, local TV news vibe to him. Stop moving your entire body with every word dude.

Sky News in Britain isn’t that bad. I assumed it would be like fox but it’s much more of a straight news outlet and not so much opinion.

I was surprised to find how different Sky News Aus was to the British version when mrmazdarx9 said similar.

SKY News Aus story recipe.

First, lay down a base of innocent reasoning.

Then, whip up some fear.

Next, go find an 'expert'

Link your expert to another 'expert's findings'  discuss.

Add in your 'alternative argument guest'... stir well then agitate, throw in some mockery and snide remarks, a fart joke will work if you're all out of snide remarks.

It doesn't matter if your story was debunked 5 years ago

even if someone like this idiot, the Minister for prostitution in The Phillipines ummm ... Nothing, mis-lead Parliament with the same ingredients, your target audience won't be able to tell the difference.

Add hubris to suit.

Handy Tip - Be sure to keep away from the ABC
