Cloning to grain

So it's simple, take an agar pin and drop it on grain. Could easily go to another agar plate but the way I see it you'll get 5 times as much mycelium far faster. So I dropped my pin
Rolled the jar to try get it to the middle Day 2

 Few days later
 Shook it up... Day 10

 Day 12
So from pin to colonized in 12 days...to put that in perspective that's lime putting one grain in a jar for g2g but pin growth is super aggressive. Here's the same culture( different plate) at about 70% on day 12 with half a dish for inoculant.

??
EDIT: We wonder because of how dirty a pin that's has been fruited in non-sterile conditions can be, straight to grains or LC. In other words you have some nuts cron.

Maybe I shouldn't have thrown all my old plates away that I was done transferring from..
So basically you have no idea what your going to get though right?
How do you know what that pin may or may not have grown to be?
Isn't that quite the gamble?

I have some brf jars I cased with coir and am just trying to get some pins to clone. I have a bunch of agar dishes but I have 2 different lc's I was going to put a pin to as well. The lc is just for shits and giggles but do you think then this has a chance or am I crazy. Could have sworn Ivr read about people putting pins to lc but maybe that was just agar pins?

That's cool! I've always wondered about this but never tried. I bet it feels naughty dropping a mushroom into a LC lol. Can't wait to try.

We never know what our clones are gonna be they always need testing. No I would never suggest using a pin in any other circumstance, invite pins from sterile conditions sure go for it but a pin from your fruiting chamber is gonna grow contans 9 times out of 10. This particular culture I isolated from spores

exactly what cron said the only reason it even worked for me was cuz it was a tissue sample from the inside of a fruit. i do not advocate even doin that ever i only did it cuz i was in a pinch and the fact it worked was prolly mostly luck. always use agar if you can otherwise be prepared for failure cuz most likely thats what will happen if your taking a fruit from the fc.

Yeah I've gambled before too cloning a pin growing on agar, but it went well and they were potent. Could have gone either way though.
