Driving into work is a great time to run things through mind, at 85mph.

First, I wanted to say, thank you all for your valued input.

Getting down to some final decisions here, and wanted to pass this by a collective mind. Again, many thanks!

$1,000 for 5 weeks.

I feel it's enough to make my body happy while I'm walking the dog in freezing weather, I can think of somethings like, getting a couch, or some new shoes, or maybe some cheap, clean carpet, or something nice, and feel OK with it all.

It's also enough to put her on the back foot and really consider what it cost to own a dog, especially when she travels so much.

And hey, I may just lay down that line of, if she wants me to watch her dog in the future, it's $200 a week.

Hoe does shroomery feel about these words?

I see where you're going with this but, IMO, it should still be a no. Purely on principle. She made her bed and she needs to lie in it without you going to the rescue, even if you are getting paid for it.

You're bargaining. Weak stance IMO. Stand strong:

So she's sticking you with Cujo for another 6 weeks?

Maybe its an ex's revenge and she brings the meanest mutt of the shelter each time

Tell her the dog and you don't really get along and you feel bad about it.

What kind of person gets a dog and then goes on long ass vacations? Dogs get attached to their master and they don't know what's going on when they are abandoned for weeks at a time. It's super stressful for a lot of dogs and she should have thought about this before she got a dog. She should either sit home or take her dog with her, not pawn it off on someone else. Don't contribute to her bad behavior.

If you don't want to tell her NO then just print out this post and show it to her.

Oh, the dog is a sweetheart and we get along alright I suppose. She's not mean and doesn't bark at all. Only issue is the amount of energy it has to spare, which is alright as long as I walk it enough. Oh, and the fact I haven't been paid in the past.

I know I say it's not about money but it sure is a good incentive to want to continue helping.

I'm going to lay it on her, $200/week and stand firm. She needs me more than I need her money, will see what happens.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way but.. I think you're selling out.

Considering how firmly you've stated your feelings, I think that's a pretty lame thing to do.

Do we live on the same planet?

$200 a week for sitting a dog?

That's considerably more than the average admin gets for sitting the Shroomery

If you don't want it just say no but to me $200 a week for sitting the dog of your ex sounds off the wall.

Thats $871 a month, there's shitty jobs that pay that.

What are your factual expenses?

"I sold out long before you ever even knew my name I sold my soul to make a record then you bought one."

If I can get $1,000, again I may buy a couch and a new windshield for my car, it has two cracks that go all the way across.

I have said this before. Use and abuse me, just don't leave me. It feels good in a way to be needed, like I have a purpose ya know?

Again, I search and see that it's not uncommon to see $85 for a single night.

I think at less than $30 a day, she's getting a hell of a deal. IMO

I smell an old flame starting to smoke a bit.

Unless both parties changed a lot, those are usually very bad ideas.  Reanalyze the situation in a bad mood.  Don't let good mood get you down.

Looks a lot like my dog.

8 years ago I brought that sweet cheeks home.  Haven't been to jail since.  Can't say that for the funny farm.

You seriously that insecure that you'd guide your life by that ethic?

Shit man I would HATE to feel that way. If my statement above is true, do you ever feel you want to shift that paradigm of yours?

Being a doormat don't sound like any kinda fun to me.

It's something Slug Jerry would say. Some would say, he is a man who presents an anus. I believe however that dependence is a spectrum, and he deserves to be empowered by his willingness to acquiesce.
