First flush ever - fresh picked, but unsure

This is my first flush and pick ever. Looking at them, I am unsure if the dark blue area is ok or not. Also, when picking them, they had white stuff around the base of them.
1) how do these look? I tried to be gentle as can be. I know blue-ing is normal, but I didn't expect so much / so dark. 2) what is that white stuff at the base? 3) how should I dry them? + id like a dehydrator, any recommended through amazon? ADD+dehydrator orderedš

All good. White stuff is just mycelium.
If youāre gonna keep growing Iād get a dehydrator otherwise look up other methods.

The dark spots, even on the large fella, is ok? I was just saddened to see it so dark. Was hoping it was not a problem. And I had hoped it was just grown mycellium and not a mold. But there's no issues in the bin or anywhere else, it was just in the growth cluster.
Thank you so so much for the reply! I appreciate it.

Yep as soon as you pick them they start going blue within a couple minutes usually. A scalpel or exacto knife is so useful for harvesting especially thick clusters.

I will look into that. I would have preferred to not have the whole cluster block pop off. Oops!

Looks like you got it off clean. Was it from a cake?
Even with a knife I still cut the whole cluster but it saves the surface from getting beat up. Or if you happen to get a couple in a cluster that mature early a blade is perfect.
What kind are they?? Look like my golden teachers

Is the speed and darkness of the blueing really a good indicator of potency?
I mean it would make sense that it would be but can you actually pinch one mushroom and see that it is more potent then the next one based off of how it bruises?

These are from the third syringe I used, successfully this round hah, so these are South America. . Sadly, these were just from ONE cake. The other 4 cakes only have teeny tiny heads starting to pop up. But Idk why they are so much slower. I'm hoping they aren't stalled. But growing these successfully gives me hope! . Also, oddly, they only seem to be sprouting from the bottom. I had assumed they would come out from anywhere on the cake. But they only seem to be coming from the bottom. I wonder if I should flip the cakes over? (They were birthed and soaked 24 hours. Kept around 75*. Misted and fanned, with light alternated, 2X a day around 9-10AM then 9-10PM)

no there is no real basis for bluing and potency from what i understand, but i still reference it all the time lol. who doesnt love the bluing reaction and teh most potent cubes i ever had were ones that turned royal blue where snipped lol likely coincidence though

Hmm. Good point. Though I see many cakes with blooms all over. Technique I suppose.

What do you mean exactly when you say they return to water? And yes, I agree they do need to be preserved, they are drying right now. I ordered a dehydrator for future use.

Looks good! Any dehydrator will do, I have the cheapest nesco american harvest of amazon. Put mushies in, flip on, come back 12-24 hours later to dry mushies.

Just meant they need to be persevered or eaten... they can rot pretty quick. Also, nice fruits.. Iāve had good luck with a fan for a day and then a desiccant, but thatās small scale ...
