Psilocybin's role in the evolution of the universe * 1
    #26383133 - 12/15/19 11:05 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Psilocybin doesn't exist because it was beneficial for the evolution of a fungus, Psilocybin exists because it is beneficial for the evolution of the universe. Secular scientists are blind to this possibility, but we needn't be.

The future will be shaped by the ideas we have and knowledge will rule the day. If the preservation of all good things was a concern in the mind of the creator, then certainly Psilocybin has had a role to play in its redemption in the past and will have in the future. It's silly not to consider this.

It's not the Universe that needs benefited, it is us that needs benefited by the Universe.  For it would benefit us both, probably the grand plan.

This is interesting - I've never thought of psilocybin's role in the evolution of the universe as a whole. Have you heard of Terence McKenna's "stoned ape" theory? Pretty interesting stuff, kind of rings a bell here.

Hi! yes I've heard of the stoned ape theory. That is a parallel, no doubt. Terrence McKenna a was a genius, I love his rants, too.

Society can harbor such disdain for truth sometimes that it takes a substance like psilocybin to help overflow the refuge of lies. That's what I see happening with the third wave. It's shattering people's paradigms so that they can be reconciled to the truth. It is very exciting, but obviously it doesn't always mean a person will be receptive.

I'm also aware of :tmckenna:'s stoned ape theory.

I'm more interested in spores essentially being perfect for traveling in a vacuum, such as space. That's fucking crazy when you think about it, lol. The universe "seeding" itself, in a sense...

Yeah. Unfortunately I think it takes a certain kind of person to be open to the changes in psyche that mushrooms and other psychedelics can bring. I used to think it was all about mindset or attitude; that everyone was capable of opening their minds like that. Am I cynical? :uhoh:

For truth to be successful, it would require being very negative and pessimistic.

When was the last time something overwhelmingly positive went viral in the news?

You're right. Does that make us both cynics?
Really interesting concept of spores "seeding" the universe. Could be applied in more way than one if you think of the spores being different things - consciousness, thought, light, etc. Been mulling this over, it's good food for thought.

With the shear amount of existence, it is likely that things are to occur everywhich way.  If it wasn't shrooms it'd be something else.

I'm sure that there are innumerable life forms that produce any chem that exists.  All we are doing is limiting ourselves by forming a belief.

Existence is big, really very very big.  Beliefs are so small, oh so very small.

You can only believe in things you know to be true, or things you can imagine to be possible - they're limiting, like you say. So beliefs keep us from comprehending all of existence.

If we were to dispel all beliefs that we have, all that would be left is things being as they truly are. Could we comprehend the extent of existence then?

In other words: if we dropped all preconceptions of the way things are in the universe, would be be able to experience and "see" it as it truly is? I think that's one of the key things psychedelics do.
Thoughts?

Drugs won't do that.  People that use drugs have a lot of strong and very odd beliefs.

Only meditation aka nonverbal prayer will numb that deep.

I think you've got the right idea, minus the unintentional epistemological knot you tie at the start of your post here. Not going to derail your thread, but you have to really, really know what's true from step one in order to extrapolate. I for one observe we CAN ascertain truth on this level, as it's useful and efficacious for us. So, I ironically agree with you even though I claim you phrased it goofy, lol.

I always argue most people have no idea what the fuck they're talking about...then they continue building models on top of that and wonder why nothing makes sense, lol.

NOT accusing you of this at all my friend, as an academic I see it constantly and it's the curse/blessing I carry from my studies. "Raw seeing" is "the trick", as you put it, IMHO. I call it The True Nature of Reality (TTNoR), or The True Nature of Reality As it Actually Exists (TTNoRAiAE; McKenna would dig that last one lol).Great reply, intention, and heart behind your posts !

Do you think that God or some creator put psilocybin there on purpose before hand, or is it just the way it seems right now, trying to make sense of the mushroom?

Take a look at the largest picture ever created.  It's a picture of Andromeda, our nearest galaxy.

Nothing but stars.  Just packed with stars, each a chance at intelligent life.

So chances are things exist and extremely abundantly.  That is ONE galaxy out of an estimated 2 trillion.

So things are so huge, belief is a such a small attempt to grasp a greater existence.

The real question should be, how does meditation or mushrooms or religion benefit our quest to survive?  Let alone obtain some higher ability to navigate a very complex existence.

Really good question.

You could look at this a number of ways, and I think it's subjective to a degree. There's an endless number of answers to your question, which makes it particularly interesting. Mushrooms could potentially give us an evolutionary advantage through increased intelligence and capability for abstract thought, and religion can provide something to hold onto in life in order to establish order out of chaos (or to provide a sense of security). Not an argument for or against the possibility of either one, just speculating and attempting to stimulate conversation.

I wonder how much of just having a feeling of well being helps.  Tribes are far too large in a modern sense.
