Was Growth Stunted in the Jar? (pic)

I used the brf PF Tek method to grow these Golden Teachers, and so far a few of the cakes are pinning like you’d expect. The one in the picture started growing rapidly before I removed the cake and dunked it, but seems to have stopped growing.
The cake still looks and smells healthy, and the part you see doesn’t seem to have any major bruising.
Do you think it might start up again as long as I keep misting and looking after it?

My advice would be start over and grow using a shoebox or monotub tek, cakes are a disaster

Completely unreliable obsolete way to grow. Low yields high contamination rates. There are much better ways to grow monotubs are set and forget, and they produce 20x the yield of a cake fruiting chamber

But in the meantime. Let that cake ride.

If you crumble a cake to bulk, you won't see that much of difference in yield.

I’ve been considering doing that, but it’d be a first for me. It seems like those produce higher yields than the cakes.

Do you have a resource to show me how to do that? I suspected the cakes might be useable in some way or another, but I’ve never tried breaking them down or really reusing them.
After seeing the yields people get from monotubs, this will probably be the last time I use the jars and cakes. For whatever reason, I convinced myself it was less prone to contamination since they stay in sterilized jars.

You certainly would, an experienced cultivator can use a spawn to bulk ratio of 1:20, you the results are not even comparable. Yeah alot of new cultivators go for the cakes but really it's a setback when you could be learning to the fundamentals of grain spawn and bulk substrate preparation. It may seen scary but really it can be extremely simple once you wrap your head around the process. This is a good tek for newbs https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25274461/fpart/all/vc/1

That’s why you use grain.

I second wbs or whatever to coir.
But what’s going on with that cake? Is it two stacked or something? I thought there were big stems stuck to it at first.

Have you seen anyone use the same substrate mix from the PF Tek I used here for a monotub? Most of what I'm reading points to different ingredients being better, like gypsum, horse poop, coir and some others.
I ask since I have enough materials to make a sizable batch of the same substrate I've been using. Thanks again for the input, the link you shared looks like it'll help me build my first monotub.

Those are some pretty thick stems that grew within a couple days while the cake was still inside the jar. I was gone for the weekend and came back to that. I thought it might continue growing after dunking it for 24 hours and going through the other steps before putting it in the chamber, but it seems to have just stalled.
I'm probably going to follow some of the advice I've been given, let it run its course, then try to set up a monotub next time. These cakes are so unpredictable sometimes.

Really you could use any kind of cakes u want, grain is better tho. Poo and coir are pretty cheap

UPDATE
The cake shown in the first picture originally looked like it wasn’t going anywhere after I removed it from the jar. I was sorely mistaken! It’s producing a lot of healthy looking mushrooms, mostly on one side.
Would it make any sense for me to lay it on its side so that the mushrooms are able to grow taller? They’re already 2-3 inches from the lid of my fruiting chamber.

Sweet.
You don’t need to change anything they should be making a 90 degree turn upward shortly.
