Absolutely! As long as agar is involved then you're good!

Agar question... so say you prep a whole sleeve, and use some of them right away for the initial inoculation. That way you have some ready for the first set of transfers. Do these need to be stored in refrigeration or are they fine just being wrapped in parafilm/clingwrap?
Also, how many plates do you recommend total for inoculation and all the transfers? I know it'll vary since you could be clean after one set of transfers or it could take 6.

I store all my agar plates at room temp. I cant really say how many. I use no pour plates I usually whip up batches of 8 or 16 at a time and keep em kn a shelf till I use em up

Updating the OP with a link to This thread. This was a past grow along for beginners getting into agar. It has some good resources and references for getting started with agar

Want to make it interesting? First to have open cap fruit, etc? Largest yield on a shoebox? I'll put up 5 prints/swabs for anyone with the fastest open cap fruit that came from spores set to agar on 1/1/20. Full disclosure my 1st grow 2 years ago that I'm trying to repeat was smoking fast.

So glad somebody linked this in the cultivation discussion thread. coming up on my one-year mark and this is the perfect way to celebrate what I have learned. Thanks for putting this together. I can't wait! (but I will, because I can not yet traverse the fourth dimension)
Quick question though. I've already commented on the sign-up thread, but was curious if we are limited to one variant?

You can grow as many varieties species as you like as long as yoyre starting from spores and you're down to document the process with us!
Last time was a blast I'm excited!!

Excellent, thanks for the reply. Will likely be doing only the GT that I post in the main thread but wanted to check and be sure. I keep a handwritten log\teks book that I've been meaning to transcribe on to here for my journal. This should motivate me more to do so.
Also, I know I'm way late on this, but just noticed your loc, CBK. Pure poetry.

Thanks it's actually the title of a hit song from an iconic Canadian band. (Lead singer IS actually a poet) A bit of a hint at my location or at least country if you're in the know and somehow end up putting those pieces together

All I see are reasons you should sign up. The grow along will be a great resource you can follow along other peoples grows. Everyone will be happy to help
If you cant start for a couple weeks that's fine. Grab a spot and follow along in the meantime. People are going to be "fumbling" at different stages of the grow.
Last time we did this I was stuck for a long ass time still cleaning shit on agar worrying about pin mold while other people were harvesting.

Got all excited and did my pre-pours last night, but forgot that I'd just pulled my stove out of place to detach the line to do some work- which (now off my shims) made it unlevel (thus the dishes I poured thin for the first time in forever are aggravatingly uneven after I fell asleep and let them cool in the PC...). We're rolling with it though becasue I don't get more agar in till the 6th lol. Went out and collected my substrate for my little special project. Excited to be able to do have fun doing this with you awesome folks. Loving the head count so far!
