What kind of pans you doing?
I’m trying Jamaicans and so far the general strategy told to me was basically just use whatever will work quickest so you can take a clone and then worry about getting awesome plates from that.
In the pan thread the difference between ms and clone grows is ridiculous.

All I have to say is, I have done basically nothing since I posted my plates about a month ago.
I have a week off coming up for reading week and hope to get down to some real business. I have been in my limited time been growing a fair bit of RW shoeboxes but, putting extra time to start a new culture kinda got put on the back burner..school has been kinda hectic
Though I did take a look at my germ and t2 plates a couple days ago and despite being overgrown there is some viable places to transfer from...think I should be good after 1 more transfer to go to grain. We'll see.
I will update ... I feel like a failure coming to this thread

I was gonna buy some of those new lids to try. What makes you not like them?
I like my white plastic ones just fine, will be shitty if those aren't as good and they got rid of the others.I think you might be the fist person I've seen say they don't like those lids, but not a whole lot of people are using them yet I would guess.

couple things. biggest thing is they make the jars ever so slightly taller. big deal, yeah? except i couldn't get ten jars to fit in the aa921. only nine. this really sucks.
also, tried using them unmodified, leaving them barely cracked. well a few developed a vacuum cooling down, so they caved in pretty badly. call that user ignorance. still, not a pleasant experience.
other than that, they're great. =\

I'll second the slight height disadvantage. 10 still fit in the Presto 23q, but I have a shelving unit I used to keep my jars on that fit two trays on each shelf perfectly... not so with these grey boys.
I also don't find them to be as warp-resistant as people tend to praise them for. They still keep a good seal (tested by filling with water and flipping upside-down), but it's kind of janky screwing them on. In their defense, I probably cranked down on them a little too much a little too soon after a PC cycle. Plus side(?)... after another PC cycle they seem to readjust to their threads. Still maintaining a proper seal.
I don't find the metal ones to be enough of a nuisance to merit getting anymore of the plastic ones. I might just start sealing the ring to the lid for transfer jars.

What I do like about the grey lids is they stack really well. Not a huge deal, but I find myself doing that a lot.
Another annoying factor is grain and agar get trapped on the seal "lip" inside the lid. I clean my jars and I like to have those lids cleared out. That little space can be tough to reach. I've used a staple to do it...

Hey I just quoted you in another thread...
From minimal reading, I take that these are mutated and supposedly common
I'd send out prints, but...

Are sporeless fruits a common thing with mutation?
I just had ran my first shoebox of Malabar with bacterial spawn and they came up at least 90% sporeless.
It’s a first for me though I was expecting spores everywhere this morning.

On my Tailfeathers tub the normal looking ones made dark prints. The white ones printed really light. The golden Halo are looking crazy. Caps openings but they haven't dropped any spores yet

I've personally never seen them on here before looking it up, and I've never had them occur in my grows.
I kinda like it. No mess, and you can see I let them go a bit long.
