It actually started to rhizo before my transfers. Check out my log!
I just happened to pick it up last night and it just kept on with the yeet. I am probably going to transfer another one or two of those rhizos.

Re-doing everything today. Not fun.
Try ramping down the heat or wrapping the presto in a blanket after you cut heat. The popping is from rapid cool off. I also used to tie my bags up in a pillowcase when I was using presto’s.
To be completely honest I used to lose 1/6 bags pretty much every presto run, I’ve yet to lose a bag in my AA941, but I’ve popped a couple in my 921. Always happens on cool down because pressure difference between air in cooker and air in bags. If they stretch but dont pop I’ll flattencit out and bandage it with MP tape before inoculating, so I dont accidently stick my finger through it or tear it while shaking.

@AyePlus I do the tape thing, too. It's my fault bc I was trying a new method and it sucked, but my "fool proof" method seems so crazy. I basically wrap the bags in wet towels and pack all of the space in the PC with wet towels. And they come out perfect.
Anyway, z-strain LC is going to 2 bags of grain and 1 bag of sub tonight. Albino GT is going to LC. Gotta sterilize some poop bc the jams and aussie LC looks good on the test plates.

Woke up to this:

harvested the ones that were ready. They dried out to this when I got home from work:

remember when I said the reckless nature of my speed run would show up in my results? There it is. 5.3 grams with 2/3rds to go. looking like a 15 gram haul from one quart of spawn.

I think I know why they were so skinny/went so fast - today I moved the other tub on their shelf to give it a mist and noticed how warm the bottom was. The ambient temp of the closet they're in is 70-72, but the surface of the bottom shelf, which sits above the heat duct run through the ceiling below, was at 78 according to my IR thermometer. Shit looks like what I grew on PF cakes over the summer at similarly high temps. Only that time I did it on purpose because I was a noob and thought they needed to be pretty much roasting at all times.

The other tub has more normal looking fruits, a more even pinset, should be done tomorrow (1 broken veil!), and I bet it will put out more weight. I'll do a final side by side when they're both done. The sub surface is confirmed by the IR thermometer to be at 72.
Cobweb won the race in one of the top-cased jars:

That's it! If anyone missed it, now that it's semi-official (I'll wait for grimsweeper to confirm), I announced a giveaway in an earlier post, contingent on my getting to first torn veil:

 GIVEAWAY
I haven't changed my status from tired in some time. I'm fucking tired y'all. Life sucks right now. But growing mushrooms with all of you and reading about everyone's projects and plans has been a major bright spot. Part of the reason I went for the race is that shit is about to get very hectic for me and in a little while I'll probably have to take a few months off from all this. If I do win the prints I'd like to do a giveaway to pay it forward. Life being the energy you put out in to the universe, not what you take and all that.
I'll make a poll, LAGM growers can vote on a print from the contest bounty for me to grow. I'll do a shoebox at the end of summer, and I'll clone the best looking fruit from that and do a tub, make prints from it, and send those out to anyone who finishes a grow log by the end of 2020 and wants a print or two.
keep an eye out for that I guess!

Trubblesome look in my journal for my print/swab list and PM me. Pick out 10 in an order of most wanted. I can't guarantee I can part with everything you want but it'll give me something to start with.

I debated posting these. Not much to them and pretty long, but it shows the worst of my SAB work. When I started this session I had to break down my lab and have everything stashed out of sight in 2 hours. I have also been stupidly backed up on my lab work and had a lot to do. I knew I was rushing, and everything I did in the session I consider questionable but I had to be done so here it is. It's not exciting, nothing blows up, and there is at least one time where I forgot to loosen the jar lid so I know there are mistakes and this shouldn't bee seen as a how to video. But in the spirit of this thing we're doing, here I am; flaws and all.

Yeah! I saw that shit and was like "I'm growing that!"
But tonight was all z-strain...
Inoculated 2 bags of milo and one bag of CVG with grain at 1:1 ratio (I'll fruit this one right from the bag)

See the little Sharpie circle? I have to draw them on the bags first, because I am blind as a bat. If I don't do that, I won't be able to find the hole
I seal the hole with hot glue, then after thats dry, I give the bags a good shake to distribute the LC.

Asura Have you tried sheathing tape to cover the holes? It's used to seal vapour barrier in your home and might provide a better seal than hot glue while making your life a whole lot easier.

If I was being picky I'd take a nib off the 3:30 area. Otherwise grain that bitch.

The hot glue was something I picked up from Blue Helix, but I'm down for something easier. Thanks for the heads up!

Updated my OP with a little work done over the last few days, including second transfers!
Quote:
January 25: Poured some new plates using standard, disposable, 100-mm, polystyrene petri dishes. I am about ready to make my T2 transfers, but am then going to be out of town for a week and a half or so. I am worried that if I transfer to HG containers, they might be overgrown by the time I can give them some attention. Used a recipe of 400 mL of water, 6 grams of LME, and 8 grams of telephone brand agar-agar.
January 26: Mars T1 plates are looking like this:

And Koh Samui T1 plates are looking like this:

Planning on making transfers tomorrow. Planning on targeting the rhizomorphic growth on the first Mars plate between 6:00 and 9:00. For the Koh Samui plate I'll be targeting the far right plate between 6:00 and 10:00. I believe that the small satellite at 7:00 is mycellium from where the wedge bounced around a bit, but I'll be avoiding it anyway. I'm cautiously optimistic that the far left Koh Samui T1 plate is clean enough for grain--it's not very rhizomorphic but it is very uniform in shape.
January 27: Made my second transfers. Took three wedges from one Mars plate:

And three wedges from one Koh Samui T1 plate:

Transferred to the 100-mm agar dishes I poured on the 25th.

Fingers crossed these will be looking nice and clean when I get home!

Can you comment how reliable that tape is? I am a bit concerned about the glue side not being sterile enough (even though in the factory it might come out hot).
I usually pierce in the corner and impulse seal it under but its a bit too much work ... I need something faster

Stuff I use around here is called tuck tape. It's red, transparent, sticks to almost anything but especially bonds to any smooth surfaces like plastic and metal. It's like packing tape with the strength of gorilla tape. Air and water tight seal. I once used it to tape a plastic tarp to my truck and cover some shit in the bed. Hopped on the highway in the rain for 100 km or so. I dont know how they make it but I assume it would be just as sterile if not more sterile than sticks of hot glue

That's an amazing wall of plates Verum!

So can I leave plates on the dresser? It's cool to just walk in and look at the progress. I've been keeping them in shoeboxes, but what the heck, they're wrapped up. Super Bowl Sunday, GO NINERS!
