Right as my shit was cooling down in the PC last night I heard the dreaded bang of a bag blowing out. Seems like people with AA's don't have a lot of the bag issues Presto users have.
Re-doing everything today. Not fun.

that my friend is why i dont use bags lol i tried and the frustration was just too much. the only time i use bags is for when i been doing my pans il take my pasteurized sub and load it into bags and dump my spawn in them to let colonize. but as far as pc ing bags goes. never ever again .

Bags are awesome. These problems seem mostly infrequent but random.
I was trying to speed things up by sterilizing my sub and grain in one go and was going to inoculate it with LC and just fruit right out of the bag.

ya i know they are awsum i just had a real hard time with them and gave up on em. although i only tried them with grain in them when i did. but i had like a 90% contam rate the few times i tried. i know my problem was the foldin tyvek sleeves in them. it was just a pain and i guess im just too set in ny ways and i have so many damn jars i may as well just use em lol.

i do how ever really like just takin my sub and placing it in the bags and then just dumping in the spawn. instead of spawning straight to trays. that i really like a lot. cuz when i tried pans spawning to trays i had major overlay problems. but spawning to bags and then breaking up after colonized then laying to trays has worked every time for me so far with no overlay issues. maybe its just dumb luck idk but its worked and thats how im doin it til i learn a better method that works for me

- Found note in my notebook that someone said 0.75% agar is the perfect consistency.
- Lesson learned - everyone's agar manufacturer is different, find what works for you
- My run of 20 0.8% agar plates was a soupy disaster
- Took T1 -> T2 plate transfers using old agar plates
- Plate #3 looks promising

So for 400mL .8% would be 3.2 grams, correct? Or for 500mL .8%, .008, would be 4 grams, correct?
I just did 4g agar, 7g potato, almost 400mL per SAGARI tek for loose agar. I know yer talking about diff agars and I haven't joined Team Telephone yet. I just wish someone would tell if I'm calculating correctly.

On another note I found my old bag of prints and syringes, started some P. Tamp(atl7) and one called albino penis envy hybrid on agar. Prayin to the shroomy gods i get some germination haha

Finally put something to grain...
Inoculated 2 cups hydrated WBS from LGT 1.1 (on left):

Notes: Might have messed up by going for a full plate in each container, cut each into quarters and loosened pucks with blade, but wouldn't come off clean when dumping in, so on one I shook it in the air above it and the other a piece of agar brushed against my skin while I was picking it up with the blade. First time PC'ing the ziplock containers, left overnight in PC to cool and there was a LOT of condensation insid the lids.
Not the end of the world if this tams out, I have a transfer plate from it that's partially grown out. Still disappointed in myself for my decisionmaking today.

Is it normal to get super fluffy growth off germ plates and early transfers??
Before LAGM I had only worked with clones and rarely saw this, but it’s pretty common so far with a bunch of my LAGM varieties. Particularly aa+.
I’ve had a bunch of plates that were just super curly random growth too. Most seem to have calmed down after a couple transfers, but a few just stay fluffy.

These are the least fuzzy aa plates I’ve got, just starting to look normal. But even still the wedges were just cotton ball looking.

About 6 months ago started the marvelous journey into home mycology.
Growing up in South Florida I had the luxury of grazing the finest cow/horse farms for fresh cubies.
Now that im in a desert climate I've gotten into home-cultivation. My first attempt with BRF cakes was a success, with no contams.
Recently inoculated grain for the first time with a MS-syringe. One jar is colonizing after 3 days.
Long sought after genetics were finally received and they were cracked, still innoc. to see what will happen, but not high hopes.
Soon ill be starting with agar, i have a microbiology/virology background so not afraid of plating, and doing some deeper research.
love the community and can't wait to contribute.

going to find a little better balance on misting/evaporating next time around, so much fuzzy foot going on.

Sounds like you are calculating it correctly. You just have to be aware that sometimes people are talking about the percentage of their agar (the hardening agent) and sometimes they are talking about the percentage of their nutrient (e.g. potato flake, brown rice flour, light malt extract).

Update. So I haven't been taking many pictures of transfers lately. Been really busy with life and cult stuff too. So my myc in my plates have been so thin it's barely visible. I think my nutes are way to high. I'm trying different things. My giant pickle jar is colonizing fast with Tailfeathers.
. I really like using this big pickle jar.

It’s weird how cutting into the myc can trigger rhizo. I had a few plates of pf classic that were just dragging, like a third the speed of normal, all fluffy. I cut transfers and three of the four shot out rhizo fingers around the missing wedge.
