music i think you guys and gals will enjoy/appreciate
    #26383235 - 12/15/19 12:02 PM (4 years, 2 months ago)

been like 7 years since i posted here maybe more but i came back on and thought id share some music in case you havent heard of these bands.

all 3 of them are bands i love for their variety in sound, they can go from playing full on thrasher to singing opera to some dirty funk to country music and they cover every genre so incredibly well. and all 3 are currently touring so if you like you can see them ( well you can see 2 of them, the third sold out all shows)

first off we have Ween. now im sure some of you have heard the name at least, they have been playing for about 35 years now and have over 300 songs (released, plenty more never released but every now and then more sees the light of day). they cover almost every genre imaginable from punk to country to blues to sappy love songs and spaghetti western style epics. they also have a sense of humor with songs like put the coke on my dick but others will bring a tear to yer eye like if you could save yourself.

they also put out an amazing prog record that was also the main influence behind the whole spongebob series ( and hillenburg threw in a few ween references in the show for good measure). the album in question is the mollusk ( title track is one of my favorite songs as well as mutilated lips)

Well here is my recommendation for ween.

- trap door

- billabong valley (kexp version)

- hell

- self immolate

- crumbling castle (kexp version)

- mind fuzz medley (kexp)

- tezeta

- boogieman sam

- cyboogie

they have so much more and its all so good. also if you live in colorado i recomend attending their 2 day marathon show in may at red rocks. 2 shows 3 hours each no repeats with music from all their albums.

i saw them in september for the first time ( right after they released their s=thrasher album) and it was the ost intense show i ever did saw.

but they played 2 hours with no stops. each song led into the next. these boys have very high energy. also both openers were badass (orb and stonefield)

lastly, one of the best bands i have ever heard. mr bungle. this is for those of you that like the werder experimental shit.

like the other bands they also cover genres but they tend to mix them a lot more. like funk, death metal and jazz all covered in 1 song. very avant garde but goddamn is it good. 3 albums

Mr Bungle (S/T) is the most rock heave and mostly accesible for those that enjoy heavy rock already. sounds like circus metal. recomend carousel, girls of porn, squeeze me macaroni, my ass is on fire and stubb a dub

disco volante- my favorite and the most experimental. took me a while to appreciate it. leave for last. songs like cary stress in the jaw, ma meeshka mow skow and merry go bye bye are amazing.

california_ their "pop" album. start here. very well made. fave songs off this are pink cigarette, retrivertigo and none of them knew they were robots but full album is great.

mike patton is one of the best frontman and singer out there. guy can do the best death growling and screaming ever and can also sing opera and in 8 languages. he can go low and high and everything in between

- pink cigarette

- Retrivertigo

- girls of porn

- violemza domestica

- my ass is on fire

- Sweet charity

And a great live bungle show
-

honorable mentions to butthole surfers and primus ( or anything with les claypool)

enjoy and share your thoughts on the music

Right on man, Ween and King Gizzard are already a couple of my favs.
The Mollusk is a goddamn masterpiece, and will never get old to me.
The first time I heard King Gizzard was when I stumbled upon "Rattlesnake." I was like, "who the fuck are these guys?" So, fully intrigued, I looked them up. Heard "The River," and I was hooked. One of the most interesting groups I'd heard in a while. Good stuff!

Never heard of Mr. Bungle, though - I'll be checking them out today for sure. Thanks for the chunes!

Mr bungle has weirder music and they are far more talented than both other bands imo (and thats saying a lot) but they are more avant garde and not for everyone.

Love all 3 though and i get to see them all live next year.

Ween and king gizz put on amazing live shows though (have yet to see bungle live). If you havent seem em def do so
