MUSH-room construction! 1

Construction of my MUSH-room has begun! It’ll be a cozy 8x8, climate controlled mushroom getaway. I’ve come across a nice big office desk, cabinet and set of lockers from a hospital I do work for. Plan on running a few outlets, and setting the lights up to be on the timer when needed to keep the 12/12 cycle, being there won’t be any natural light. Walls and ceiling will be insulated and looked at a roll on vapor barrier to seal the floor with. The wife will get her tub back from the shoebox shelf it holds now! I’m stoked, but had to start on the chicken coop today before putting walls up, happy wife happy life!

I don't know If you planned this, but it would be a good idea to make a small enclosed area for the flowhood so it is not in the same room where your shrooms dropping billions of spores.

Goal is getting it all out of the house, is where I’ll be doing all of my mycology activities. It’s a 40’ shipping container, I’m able to add to it if need be.

I didn’t, I’ve just got the SAB right now. I def did not plan it, but sounds like I’ve got an addition to build!

Looks like you are still using the larger half of the container for storage. If you could clear it out and add doors to your wall construction you could have multiple rooms with different controlled environments so you could do fruiting rooms as well as culture labs and such

if your setups anything like mine your gunna be kinda cramped depending what this room will be used for specially. 8x8 isnt much room to do everything in

So the 20’ or so from the “back” of the connex is my shop, there is definitley room to give up, but not much. That end is closer to the house so we cut in and welded a door into the side. I left the end by connex doors with about 8’ to store ductwork stock and yard tools. Lockers I can store shit in, the cabinet itself, can house all of my agar plates, supplies and what not. Built the walls and slid them in, haven’t anchored to the floor yet. My first grow and grows here on out, I think I’m going to stick with the shoeboxes.....play with ratios and subs, see where I can get the biggest kick with em. So space wise for those, shelves higher surrounding the room, takes care of that space. Hell lockers may end up in the shop and I bring home another cabinet, take doors off and use that to house the shoeboxes.

Well I was finishing up framing for the mush-room today and have come to a crossroad. Van hatton you’ve got me thinking. I took the lockers out and just have the cabinet and desk in there as of now. It’s a little cramped and can imagine once I get a wall full of shelving for fruiting tubs, it’s going to seem a bit more tight. I’m now contemplating if I should just use this strictly for fruiting and keep the SAB work in the master closet where it’s at now. Then it would just be a matter of moving jars/bags from the house to the connex as they get noc’d up. I’ve stared at current shelving and what I can do to make more space.....just need to mix a drink and sit and stare at it some more.

So is it climate controlled? How are your temperature swings? Might make more sense to make this your Clean Room and fruit in the house...

It will be climate controlled, next step is running my electrical, then mounting the hvac and insulating/wall coverings.

Time to bust out the cutter and put an AC unit through the wall. Those suckers get really hot in the summer.

Yah that’s been the plan since the beginning. I’ve got a window shaker, ptac or ductless to choose from, bad thing is the ductless needs new pcm

Most times yes but since this is a “stand-alone” confinement I would suggest just “climate controlling” the container to 73f and keeping it around 40% humidity. Seems like a bunch of extra work to me but really if you can’t cultivate in the house then this is your next best option OP. Just keep it 73 and 40 year round and you won’t need to do anything else. Build a separate, smaller room for the flow hood and you should be golden. AMAZING idea and work OP. 73 and 40 are the only parameters you need. Maybe make a panaelous room if you’re working with those but cubes don’t need very much climate control, they’ll grow pretty much anywhere.

If you line the outside with earthbags the temps will be easier to manage.

I’m currently cultivating inside the house, but will very quickly be running out of room inside. The shelves at either end of our tub that doesn’t get used thanks to separate shower, is great for shoeboxes, but I’m fixing to start monos and don’t exactly have a great spot for them inside. Technically I can do it all in that space, just with SAB instead of future fh. Likely by the time I build fh, I’ll have another addition built and will have more room inside connex for that dedicated space. Pans are in the future also, but for now I want to perfect my cube cultivation. Thanks for the input, luckily climate control is my game!
