Using centrifuge tubes for culture storage 1

So I bought a bunch of these centrifuge tubes but I'm wondering how ppl go about using them. These are a little smaller than I thought so idk if I'm going to have to try to use a syringe to fill them with agar solution. I'm going to have to come up with a rack to hold them upright while I pc. Or I was thinking about just shoving colonized agar in them but that doesn't seem like the right way to store a clean culture I'd rather sterilize it and let it colonize in the tube. I know ppl use them but I don't see much of what everyone's prices is.

Sending wedges (of edibles) idk why when most have petris but that's what I've seen it fer.
Or if you build a centrifuge - some say clean spore solution can be produced this way. One spore vender mentioned that once on the boards in talking about how PE syringes are made. Sorry I don't know more.

I use these to send out wedges, haven't tried using these for storage. I guess it is doable. You could make mini-slants and put a piece of toothpick in them. Good for people with small culture fridges

That's intriguing! Any chance you still have a link handy?
And ya i was thinking like slant's but these are smaller than I thought. I have vaccutainers but they're old, not sterile and plastic. I wouldn't be confident sending anything like that. At least I can pc these. I did get them for shipping but I'd like to get a mini fridge for storing cultures in them.

Not good for storage they are handy for sending cultures out but they dry too quick to be good for storage.

Cool thank you. I used to put mineral oil in my slant's bc that's what the books said to do for long term storage. Is that outdated info? Seems like pitris in the fridge is the popular choice for culture storage. I appreciate everyone's input.

You don't put the chunks of mushroom tissue in the centrifuge. You strain out the large pieces with a screen (paint strainer works nicely) adding additional water to wash off any clinging spores. Allow the spore laden wash water to settle for 10 minutes or so (clear glass vessel recommended) and carefully pour off the top water until you see you are starting to lose spores, then add the remaining solution to the tubes for spinning.
