Weed and Studying

Maybe its just my imagination but I feel like I study better when I'm a little stoned. I was thinking about taking a few hits before going to the library to study for my final on friday. Good idea? Bad idea? Do you guys study stoned?

I like to study stoned. My mind doesnt go off on tangents as much when I'm a little buzzed.

I personally wouldn't do it because I would get incredibly bored just siting in a chair, and also I wouldn't remember any of the stuff I was studying

i study stoned a lot and it hasn't failed me yet.  reading takes a little longer to get through because the words move around more :weirdeyes:, but im a lot less irritable which is always a plus in my book.

i dont like to, i really don't like studying as is and get distracted really easily when i'm sober, so when i'm high it makes it more difficult for me to study. but it feels nice after a long time of studying, and working your brain to let it relax by smoking some herb. i love falling asleep when i am worn out from the day it feels so good, and even better when you are high. sleeping is wonderful.

in high school, i got really stoned at night and remembered i had to right a speech...so i did...it was a horrible speech that was about how "shoelaces are a neccesity to life"...i was a dumbass. Anyways, then the next day i give the speech...but of course i get stoned before class. That just completely addes to it. I start the speech and mess up so i start over. It's a ridiculous speech and the class is cracking up. (i have it on video tape cause we had to video tape every speech). I'm wearing a tie-dye shirt and i'm trying not to laugh while giving it. it's really funny to watch. but guess how i ended my speech....i was just giving my speech and out of no where i was like "can i be done?" and the teacher says "yeah" and i just walk away....i was the worst speech giver....we had to do a speech on someone we admire, and during that speech i forgot to mention the guys name through out the whole speech, and it was actually a pretty decent one aside from me forgeting to say who it was. But at the end the teacher was like "that was good, but who was it about?" And did i feel dumb.

Well, when I get stoned I don't really 'get dumb' like many people.  But yah, I held off the smoking and just hit the library.  Back now, and probably gonna go spark a bowl to relax.  I like your shoelaces speech though, very informational.  :stoned:

that was back in the day of begining to smoke pot...i don't act like a dumbass anymore. i love drawing while high, i've drawn lots of cool pictures. and i love playing basketball when i'm high, i think i do better then when i'm sober. but when it comes to work i don't wanna be high if i want to do good cause i have problems concentrating as is, and don't need to feed my laziness. i'm trying to get a job at the zoo, i hope i get that. i know a lot of people that work there and that will be fun to get stoned there. working there, to me, would be so much better then working in some little building. i love animals, i'd be outside all over the place, not sitting in one small area, and having a good time. And there would always be cool stuff to look at.

I get lazy and kinda tired on weed too. Luckily I got a job this summer that has no drug testing. Doing promotional work for the Save the Environment Campaign. Zoo sounds like a really cool job, though. Animals are crazy to interact with while on any substance. Just watch out for the tigers and crocodiles and stuff...

Weed can either make you really distracted, which is bad for studying, or it can make long, menial tasks less boring, which is good for studying.

yeah. when i start out though i wouldn't be dealing with animals too much really. cause there are different levels of employment. it goes up to level 6 or 7. I would start out at 1 because i have no previous work experience of anything like that. so level 1 is like working in small kiosks, or food places, and probably cleaning up around the park. the higher levels deal with animal care and work in the cages. so if i stick with the job overtime i would be working with the animals. And i would make sure that i don't go to work ripped and then find out i would have to be doing something that would be difficult while high. I most likely wouldn't get high very much before/during work just to be safe. this would be a really cool job for me and i woulnd't wanna mess it up.

Just remember that if you study in one chemical state of mind, you must take the test in the SAME state.

This goes for caffeine, herb, psychedelics, even your glucose levels influence your absorbtion and recollection of facts!

Yesterday I was stoned in class listening to music on my discman and I digged it... I was doing my work fluently well and fast... Its good to study high... but not in the long run, you will forget what you've studied. Speed is great for the finals if your gonna do any drug. I'm concidering doing ritalin for the final.

Weed + Studying = Good Grades For me anyway. When I am stoned studying I seem to be able to focus more. My mind doesn't wander as much. And then I would take the test stoned. I did that all last semester in my quantative analysis class and ended up with a 98% for the sememster. It has been that way in most my classes, except for accounting. But at least it made sucking in accounting much more enjoyable.

study high

take test high

get high score

In highschool I never went to class because I was getting stoned in the parking lot. Last year before my final exams we smoked two blunts of some headdy nugs and I got Bs and Cs. I graduated a semester early with a GPA of 1.5 because I never did homework.

lol, glad that works for you guys.  For me, weed turns off my short term memory, and too many consecutive days of smoking turns me into a burnt out moron who gets the "tip-of-the-tongue" phenomenon way too often. 

I think a lot of people react to the ridiculous propaganda spread by the anti-drug crowd by unconditionally condoning drugs, ESPECIALLY pot.  I used to do this, "Oh yea pot makes me write way better, think creatively."  "I smoke everyday and I'm just as intelligent, motivated, and sharp now, if not more, than I was before I had touched pot."

After a year or so of this nonsense, the simple fact that too much weed DOES sap my motivation and my mental facilities forced itself on me.  Its difficult to see one's own brainpower decrease through the haze of denial, slow incremental change, and smoke :wexican:

Lets get it strait, I'm down with ganja, I still smoke it.  I'm cool with people doing whatever they want to do, and if it really does help you guys study / take tests, you're lucky, and I envy your psychopharmacological orientation.  But I challenge everyone who smokes weed more than twice a week to stop cold turkey, I mean NO SMOKING AT ALL for two weeks, and examine how you feel.  Feel better?  I do.

While I don't want to condone this behavior for anyone, the truth is, yesssssss.

Not only does the scientific world prove this, but I'm a 3.8 GPA college student. (And in highschool, I graduated with all honors and a 3.6 GPA unweighted.) :grin:


However, my BEST suggestion is this... instead of smokin' while studying (you never know... you might not have or come across herb the day of your test!), do what I sometimes do...

REWARD yourself with a bowl or a joint about 15 minutes after you've studied. The info will have set in your mind and you're truly ready to relax and/or party. :thumbup:

The main reason I asked this was because my friend who goes to berkeley finds that smoking weed helps him reach a much greater understanding of shakespeare in a class he's taking.  He says he can't do anything about that class sober but when he tokes, he can understand and write much better papers (which apparently show through in his grades, he's a physics/english double major with close to a 3.8 gpa)  So maybe he is just naturally brilliant?

Anyways, I decided against smoking before studying mainly because it makes me really tired.  Although I think smoking helps you in writing papers by making the ideas and words flow better.  I only smoke like 2-3 times a week so I don't really feel any change when I take extended breaks.  Sometimes I find myself flipping through my art history book when I'm stoned even when I don't have a test coming up.  :smirk:
