Are these the "real" turkey tails?

Hey guys,
I found these in the Sierra foothills, growing out of old logs (oaks). Several similar looking fungi is also growing around, but these were the only ones with white underside. Can these still be something other than Trametes versicolor?
Planning on making a tea out of them unless you guys advise against.

Thank you

Yes, but don't waste water on the tea...it tastes like shit and has zero value to you.

Trametes versicolor.
Go ahead for the tea!
There is a large amount of anecdotal naturopathic evidence that suggests serious benefits to your immune system!
Research all the documents you can find about it if you are interested!

A component of turkey tail (polysaccharide K) stimulates immune cells. There have also been clinical trials looking at polysaccharide K as an anti-cancer adjuvant, but I'm not sure those trials showed a conclusive benefit. Regardless, probably ain't gonna hurt ya.

Eat some for a few weeks to a month and see for yourself. I did, and I know they work. I’ve met people first hand who swear by them to say the least. More than one person I know healed themselves of a certain ailment they were suffering from with them which is quite interesting
Some people just need to be slapped in the face HARD to make any noticeable realizations I think. Most expect instant gratification or something close to it
After all society is in the business of dulling our senses and killing them ontop of that
For example, microdosing. Many say they don’t feel anything when they take a micro dose. Welllll, I did. The very first time and it was very noticeable. If I don’t notice anything imo I didn’t take enough for a microdose. Yes it’s easy to eat alil more than ya wanted but whatever in my two years of doing so it was very well worth it

What makes you say that?
The complete lack of studies concluding any effects on the human body that include double blind trials, actual humans and a sample size worth mentioning.

That's what I figured. Lemme summarize your view:
BECAUSE there were no trials showing benefits, there must be none (zero).
Is that what you are saying?
By the way, I really just wanted an ID. So thank you for that. Also, you are right on the taste, on its own it is hard to enjoy

I ended up with strep throat over the weekend and I wanted to see if fresh turkey tail tea would help. And so I drank the tea made with those two nice pieces above and some mint+lemon grass from the garden. I got about four large cups of tea down last night. The pain went gradually down to almost none before I even hit the bed.
I slept well, no pain or cough wake me up in the middle of the night unlike Friday and Saturday night.
This morning the white dots along with the pain were gone from my throat.
I got up, went to work as if I wasn't sick the last two days.
I don't know. I work with oils, herbs and spices for a while now so maybe my belief in them makes them effective?

HI That's my first ever post here,
So regarding Turkey tail there is a lot new research done on that mushroom. I heard about that for the first time from my Chinese doctor but then Paul Stamets gave an incredible story on Joe Rogan's podcast. Just check that for yourself.
Regarding Medicine references for Turkey Tail just check this link:

Bests!

Welcome to Shroomery G!
In case you wanna widen your horizons on medicinal use of mushrooms, here is a book I just got as a Christmas gift.
It discusses well over a dozen of mushrooms and their medicinal benefits, citing all available research data (at the time of publishing, in 2014), their use around the world in clinical settings as well as in folk medicine. Brilliant book!

Welcome to the shroomery
There are lots of of articles on Trametes species and their medicinal properties, not are from Chinese scientists. This Genus has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years but very few bonafide studies have been conducted. To be sure that you are looking at legitimate research, look for double blind clinical trials to get the most reliable information. Double blind clinical trials are the gold standard to seek the truth whether or not something really works.
