first of all your coir is really low... 60/40 or 70/30 is better odds... but i think the answer to ur question is patience... dont fret and wait a bit... 4-5 days? give it 7-10!

Domey, from what I have seen the best results from casing are obtained from a casing layer that is at a depth of about 1/4 that of the substrate. Since you said you have around an inch of substrate and basically an equal depth in casing material you can expect it to take a little while for the myc to "come out from under the covers." I dont think it will cause you any problems other than a little bit longer of a wait. I would say that checking your ph wouldnt be a bad idea either, but I imagine that what you have will do just fine. (You can throw in a little egg shells,if you want something easy) to buffer your ph next time. Just kinda sprinkle it into the casing mixture. This comes more into play in consequent flushes, rather than the first,so that is why I say your ph is more than likely ok for now.

Good Luck
MYKEY

A pH buffer isnt needed with coir.

It may not necessarily be needed but it helps and certainly doesnt hurt,It stabilizes the pH of the casing mixture somewhat.I always use it with great results.

You can actually make it pretty thick if you do it in layers. You know like 1/4 inch;wait for myc to pop through:another 1/4inch...so on untill your up to an inch or so. I have seen my friends casings get very good pinsets from doing this. He cased 1/4 inch three times on a horse poo substrate with PB's.(the poo was about two inches thick) I think you will find that after a couple of flushes even the coir will drop in ph value a little which will effect your yield a bit. The more fruiting you get the more acidic the casing will become.

Hope your casing gets goin soon!

MYKEY
