I feel a very light dose of smoked DMT (10mg to 15mg at the most) can be a good introduction to the head-space of psychedelics....

...But, I feel the smoked DMT experience doesn't really have much to offer in the way of "healing" or getting down to the core of one's issues with depression, or offering time for introspection and reflection on oneself/life...at all.

I find smoked DMT to be a rapid and chaotic experience and it is super short in duration, there is no moment for "reflection", there is no moment for introspection, and the first few moments after smoking the stuff are usually filled with some anxiety (even for me with 100's of trips over the years I'm put a little "on edge" at first with smoked DMT, I can't imagine what it'd be like for someone with zero experience with psychedelics).

I just don't consider smoked DMT to have much "value" or "potential" at all in regards to healing or sorting out oneself or getting down to one's personal issues/trauma/depression/anxiety etc. None of my smoked DMT experiences involve or revolve around those sorts of things, none of my smoked DMT experiences involve any sort of "introspection" or reflection on myself and my life. Sometimes during the comedown & afterglow I'm sorta in a "reflective"/introspective head-space for a brief moment, but it is so short lived that it's all over before I get anywhere.

DMT taken orally with an MAOI is a totally different story though. Taking DMT orally is where it's at for sorting oneself out and working on "fixing" oneself. Where one can be in the experience for at least a couple hours, have some time to reflect and go inward and be immersed.

Smoked DMT is just an incredibly rapid & chaotic experience that doesn't really apply much to healing/working on oneself....Even with all of my experience with psychedelics over the years, after I smoke DMT more often than not I'm thinking/feeling "What the fuck just happened" rather than getting some actual "substance" or something to pull from the experience and apply to my life.

Smoked DMT just isn't the "tool" to use for such a thing IMO.

And for one who doesn't have experience with psychedelics, I feel smoked DMT is likely to be a very confusing experience.

So sure...I say go for it if the person is curious about psychedelics...I just would not expect the experience to have any sort of impact on that persons depression and would not expect the experience to offer much to that person in helping them get out of their depression....And I would make it clear to that person that it's probably not going to offer them much in those aspects.

I'm kinda late to the party here but I'll put my 2 cents in anyway.

In my experience with depression/anxiety and psychedelics is that microdosing helps immensely. After a few days of 10ug of lsd, 0.1g mush or some mescaline/fresh cactus I feel like a completely different person. My negative thought patterns disappear, I'm more social and I get this drive/spark that can last for weeks (it does creep back in eventually).

DMT is a weird one though. The first time I tried it (10mg or so) I was in a depressed state and I was immediately launched into a dark trip and wanted it to end as fast as it started. I thought about flushing all the DMT I had just extracted down the toilet. I imagine if that was my first psychedelic experience I might have never touched anything again. Since then I've always been nervous about using it but I've had some decent experiences since. Overall, I have learned nothing of value from DMT. DMT visuals are by far the most incredible I've experienced but thats all it is for me - purely aesthetic. It's just too quick for any valuable introspection. Then again I've never completely blasted off.

I'm sure some have good results with DMT treating depression but I highly recommend looking into microdosing as there's minimal risk of a bad experience that could discourage future use.

I suppose a step up from that would be a good dose of cactus. My first cactus trip is what really lit the fire inside me. I remember feeling absolutely incredible but not in an intoxicated kind of way and with no visuals. I kept thinking "this is what it feels like to be normal". Basically I had been depressed for like 8 years and was so used to feeling like shit all the time I forgot what not being depressed felt like.

yeah, i get that feeling with psychedelics too. that "this is how i'm supposed to feel" feeling. it's a real big motivator to try and do what you can to maintain that feeling, whether it's eating healthier, seeing a doctor about issues, exercising, or culling your social acquaintances of bad apples. i never seem to get the urge to do "bad things" that might make you feel good in the short term to try and reach that goal either - only healthy habits. it's pretty strange, though welcome.

using psychedelics feels like, to me, having an oasis that's been drying up, a source of water that sustains your soul...and having a sudden blessed storm that fills that pool back to the brim. you go from parched to rapidly nourished and replenished, but the pool is still just a reservoir, not a spring - there's no normal replenishment from day to day, so having something restore the reserves for you is lifesaving, literally.

I hope to one day "hit a well", so to speak, so that i get that replenishing feeling without needing psychedelics, but i've not found it yet. in the meantime, i shudder to think of just how parched of joy i was before. i was clearly near the end of my limit.

I’m perplexed by some of the comments about smoked DMT being too short in duration. I have to admit my sample size is 1, but that experience was a level 5 of whatever, totally gone into another dimension, I did not have a body anymore, and there was no time. It literally felt like an eternity. The strangest thing was coming down and having to “remember” what having a body is like. I did not at all think “that went by quickly”.

Still, it's like the fast-food drive-thru experience compared to a fancy reservation with Ayahuasca.

So with Ayahuasca are you also “gone”, so to speak?

Depends on the dose. On higher doses you generally lie down and enter a lucid dream state. There's moments to remember that you still have a body, but for the most part you're psychically interacting with visuals that are more real than life itself.

You're definitely better off going with Aya or Anahuasca if you want therapeutic benefits from DMT. It it truly is uncanny how a chemical can be so therapeutic, even mushrooms can not get close to it, but the heavy machinery is really not the DMT itself but the harmala alkaloids.

You don't need to go to full on hyperspace either...

It's serious business though, and unlike shrooms can be, not really recreational.

What is Anahuasca? I don’t think I’ve seen that word before.

It's just an analogue of the actual brew (Caapi and DMT) were instead of using Caapi(which technically is ayahuasca) you use another MAOI. In my case Syrian rue. I just use the term because it avoids having to explain, or being explained to by purists, that what I am taking is not actually ayahuasca.

The Harmala alkaloids make all the difference. Ayahuasca, Anahuasca, Pharmahuasca, Psilohuasca, doesn't really matter, you want that Huasca sauce imo. Rue and Caapi are different plants, but the same technology, capable of the same things, for the most part. So if going the DMT route, definitely wanna try to include the Harmalas, even if in Changa (particularly i'd imagine taking the Harmalas orally and then smoking on some DMT here and there).

Nah just go to some hippie festival with some acid, find a girl, get to know her, if shes giving odd vibes that she kinda likes you, give her acid and you might get lucky. Do this a lot and you are guarenteed something..atleast herpes

Sex on acid is the best sex I’ve had. Never even tried on mushrooms, never wanted to. Never tried this with a random festival chick. Did it once with a chick who was a friend and I came in 2 minutes and felt awkward around her after that. Other than that though it’s always been  with long term relationship partners I was comfortable with. 69ing on acid is one of my favorite things ever. Highly recommend trying it out. Nothing too crazy with the dose though.. If you’re going above 200ug you’ll probably have to wait til the peak is over to get in there.
