Ready For G2G?

I asked in the General Cultivation thread but didn't see any responses so I will throw it in its own thread.
I am wondering if my jar is good to be G2G. Background on jar:
I had an extra jar of sterilized rye berries and while cleaning up transfers I had a fully grown T1 Golden Teacher dish that I figured fuck it lets just see what happens and took about 4 transfers from spots that had what appeared to be good looking mycelium. Shook at about 40% colonized and since then the jar is close to fully colonized.
My mission is to get a master jar that I can just G2G from for as long as I can. Do you guys think what I impulsivity created is a good G2G option?

myc looks a little weak in the photo.
did it recover quickly after the shake?
Keep in mind however slow it colonized the grain can indicate how fast it will colonize any receiver jars and sub.
If it looks good to you can’t really hurt to try.

I think after the shake it was probably 2 or 3 days until I started seeing growth again, don't really remember. I took a couple pics in better light close up.

Did you do any transfers to agar from that plate? I wouldn't expect a T1 to be clean enough for grain.

At the time I dropped the agar into the jar it was the leading edge, the plate has grown out since.
Yeah I took transfers and I am on T5 I think. Bummer to hear but it isn't a big loss. It was just an experiment. Powering ahead with the transfers.
Thanks for the help!

Yeah I think I am just going to see what happens when I spawn it and see what happens because why not since this was an experiment. Best case scenario I get some prints to share in the marketplace, worst case just lose a bit of Black Kow

I did something similar when I was starting out. I went A2A with some plates to keep cleaning them up, but also used those donor plates on grain just to get the process down, see how it works, try grain prep, etc. Predictably they weren't clean and the shoe boxes didn't produce for crap, but it was valuable practice. I got the plates clean, my grain prep improved, and the shoe boxes after that went very well. And the ones after that. Practice costs time, but it's never a waste of time.

True that! Better to make first time mistakes with less desirable things than committing to bigger jars and g2g with potentially contaminated spawn.Cant wait to get some truly clean plates to use but they will come in time!

I'd recomend doing more jars from the start. We used to g2g but it went down to 25% success rate and lost so much. We do 7 jars from agar straight to spawn Then we also do LC. We use 10 cups of grain in a bag and pour the LC in, shake once to spread the LC evenly then don't touch it until it's white. Super successful with these methods. We use agar to inoculate our LC.
