California mushrooms identification
    #26381512 - 12/14/19 03:11 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

Im hoping to identify two very differenttypes of mushroom. The first, I'm hoping is active. The second was obviously not, but looked wicked with blood-red droplets coming from it.

Habitat:

First ones: Growing in sandy'humus' dirt, in rolling hills studded with oak and pine, near lake Folsom in California central valley.

Second one was growing on an oak stump. No gills,

Gills:
Biege gills, not attached to stem

Stem:
About 1-2 inches long,

Cap:
Flattened and wavy: only mature specimens found

No immediate bruising, couldn't stick around to find out

Looks like maybe a Gymnopus sp. and Stereum hirsutum

Gymnopus dryophilus and an undescribed species of Stereum.  Stereum hirsutum was described from Germany and I am not sure that we get it in the western USA.

I found some of these Stereum in LA at Griffith Park about this time last year. Very pretty mushroom.
