Agar plates contaminated, or food colouring loosing colour?
    #26381219 - 12/14/19 12:12 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

Gday everyone, is this cubensis mycelium contaminated? These plates were inoculated with a loop and spore print between 2-5th of december

Looks like the red food colour I put in is getting sucked out by the mycelium or it's just a weird contamination.

The agar recipe used is 10powder agar/10g lme per 500ml and some red food grade colouring(edible).

Mycelium can discolor agar with food coloring in it.

Oh good was hoping it was that, do you think the mycelium looks alright?

Maybe too much nutrient, it's like fluffy balls on most on the plates

It looks fine to me. Make lots of transfers and in no time you'll have beautiful plates.
